Spain can reach 21 points max
Norway can reach 16 points max
For either to do that, one team will lose 3 points from their maximum.
Worst case for Scotland is Norway wins out to 16…Spain wins out to 18…and Scotland needs wins over Cyprus and Georgia, or a win and a tie plus a tie-breaker advantage over Norway.
If Spain and Norway tie their match, one win qualifies Scotland as Norway can only reach 14.
If Spain wins over Norway, that leaves 13 max for Norway, so two ties or one win qualifies Scotland…one tie might. |
Even Pythagoras couldn’t work out all those algorithms. Let’s just live in our current glory and leave the mathematics for now |

I wouldn't write Georgia off. They have a possible 19 points to play, they are nearer rivals for us than Norway are and we have still to play them away from home. If we could get even 2 points from Spain and Georgia away, that would be massive. I can't see Spain dropping too many more points in this group. My understanding is that even if we finish second, we go through. Is that right, or would it be a play-off? |

Second gets us through…and if we are third or less, as I understand it, we could play in due to the Nations League. Georgia, I know it’s risky discounting them, but they beat Cyprus and tied Norway to get 4 points. They haven’t played Spain, and lost to us… |

Thanks for confirming Tex - re-assuring to know that second gets us through without a play-off. Fingers crossed for "any which way we can"! |

News That Spain away fixture in October will be played in Sevilla is just perfect, as I'll be in that part of the world for a couple of weeks then 👍😎 |

Spain are moving up the gears but a draw between Norway and Georgia on Tuesday and second place for Scotland is certain. |

After Round 6:
Looking at the table, Spain is still the odd one out since they have only played 4 matches, everyone else has played 5.
Scotland is on 15 and can reach 24 points max
Spain is on 9 and can reach 21 points max
Norway is on 7 and can reach 16 points max
Georgia is on 4 and out with a max of 13
Cyprus is on 0 and out with a max of 9
For either Spain or Norway to do that, other other team will lose 3 points from their maximum…or both lose 2 from their maximum.
Worst case for Scotland is Norway wins out to 16…Spain wins out to 18…and then Scotland needs a win over Georgia, or a tie against Spain or Georgia plus keeping the tie-breaker advantage over Norway (which would require the Scotland v Norway match end 0-1 or 1-2).
Norway must win all matches to possibly qualify, but still needs help from Scotland losing either all matches or all but a tie versus someone outwith Norway.
Spain is no factor if they win out, because that means Scotland hold second anyway.
Georgia are no mugs, and will be at home, but it’s a winnable match…although a win or tie versus Spain first would ease fears. |

Viaplay or Styx in Kirkcaldy but no idea about Portobello ( or illegally at home).
Anything this evening would be a bonus ( a Qualifying bonus!) but suspect that the crucial match of this international break will be the Norway v Spain in a few days time |

I think Spain will be a different proposition tonight compared to the last time we played them.
Likely Norway will turn over Cyprus so think it maybe the next round of games before we can celebrate. |

Half an hour played and scraping by on 20% possession, the next hour is going to be murder. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |
