I personally wouldn't want any of the "top 3" as per the poll in this thread and nor would I want Barry Robson but again that is simply my opinion.
Steve Lomas would be an interesting choice but I do agree with SoW in his absolute hatred for Derek Adams _________________ “If it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, then why do they keep score?” Vince Lombardi |

Why does Jimmy Calderwood appear to be toxic regards vacant managerial positions? _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

big ain wrote: | i may be reading to much into this and taking it too far in my own heed but i have a feeling our new management team will consist of laurie ellis and maurice malpas.
they are both hanging arround the club, doing every day tasks, Signing youth players, arranging pre season friendlies..
Now Tell me this, what clubs do we know of in the past who have no manager have signed players, and arranged games?
NONE! as it shouldnt happen.
What if the new gaffer comes in, wants his own boys in? doesnt agree with the pre season friendlies, and doesnt like the look of the youth players that we have signed up?
A) the club looks daft as a brush for arranging these friendlies
B) the youth players weve signed warm the bench if they are lucky or play reserve games or go out on loan while we pay a wage or 4!
now i for one minute am not slagging off the board for this but surely common sense tells them to hold back a week before arranging games and signing players.?? |
A) If pre-season friendlies are about fitness, then who cares, and let's face it, playing Aberdeen is good for the coffers, so is partly a business decision by the board, rather than something done on purely football merit
B) That's hardly a new situation, even when the manager was settled and had offered the boys terms himself.
Also, any new guy would presumably have made peace with the fact that he's already got half a dozen 'senior' players on the books: Vaughan, Callachan, Barr, McGurn, Thomson and Mckeown.
Simple fact is that a Malpas/Ellis pairing would not bring back the punters, which is the avowed purpose of the next appointment. And why go through the pantomime of interviews if that's what you were gonna do? |

Slightly unreliable source tells me that Lennon has a get out clause should he fail to keep Alloa up. Not sure how that works regards interviewing him during the final play off? But if Forfar can win then he becomes a viable option if this is case and ticks plenty boxes |

Was he not only contracted until the end of the season? I'm sure I read that in the paper at the time he joined. _________________ Nothing to see here... |

I think it won't be Danny Lennon as he left Rovers under a cloud and there are still people here that he won't get on with. So I have heard. |

I'm not sure the board will hang about until Sunday to wait and see if Alloa survive. I reckon there'll be some kind of announcement this weekend.
Don't know why, but I'm thinking it might be an Ellis / Malpas combo where the board come out and say how they've sifted through applications from all over the world, interviewed high quality candidates, but Laurie and Malpas were the best of the bunch and therefore have the job(s).
However, I could be completely wrong. _________________ Dougie Hill

That would be completely uninspiring. Let's hope the board see that some fresh ideas are needed. _________________ If I were a fighter I'd probably kick your ass. |
