Thought the effort from both teams was 1st class, 2 teams that wanted to win the win the match, from a raith point of view, I am not expert because I rarely go to do but I thought the raith goalie did not take command of the 6 yard box,he needs to have authority in this area,on the other hand the Ayr goalie looked like he lacked in confidence

Just watched ayrs highlights of the game. Found them on YouTube, through their Twitter.

In think we got lucky in that Ayr were not awarded a penalty from a Davo challenge in the first half. It may of been soft but Davo clearly hits the player rather than the ball. We might of found it hard to come back from 2 down had then been awarded it and then scored.

Just watched our own highlights and thought the exact same, we were indeed fortunate with that incident, but nice to have good fortune on our side for a change though

1st half we were ok against ayr`s snidey tactics but in the 2nd half with bobby barr we were a different team and played great. The only slightly moan was barry could have maybe broght on big johnny court just to get into their defence as spencey and buchanan were knackered. Some good football played from both teams at times but they really are a shower of dirty #######s.Some of their challenges and wee pushes in the back were outrageous but they keep getting away with it although what do you expect with an ex townie as their manager.Still a long way to go but its in our hands now so onwards and upwards next stop stair park.

As much as I would have loved us to get the 3points, I this kid th 1-1draw was a fair result on balance of play.

Ayr however are a real dirty team, they must have that dirty streak installed by Mcall, it's just a wonder how they get away with quite a few of those challenges before being booked.

Still on top 1 point clear with 2 games in hand, so the momentum is still with us & Ayr need to hope we slip up but they also need to win every game so they're under pressure too, teams will still cause them issues but with they're new Gk he looks a bit more solid with high balls & we needed to stop punting the ball up to spence & Buchanan as they're 2 Centre halfs were having an easy time, we actually need to stop that in any of our games as we've no height up front, we need the ball into feet or played in behind.

Good change by BS at h/time bringing on Barr, I know he isn't fully fit but I just thought Herron slowed the game down to much & didn't have any real impact for us, I've not seem him give us anything to offer even before he was injured. Would have liked to see what the young lad Hendry has to offer us & just wondering when he will get a game!...

We sat back with about 5mins to play & invited Ayr onto us, I just think we should have stretched the game & brought on Court or Osei fro Buchanan & also maybe Hendry for Spence & flooded the midfield. Doesn't seem that BS likes making subs for fresh legs though & would rather see a game out with the starting 11.

With all that said still top of the league

Why would he put Osei on at such a crucial stage of a crucial game, when there is no evidence as of yet to suggest he's good enough for this level.

As for the young lad from Celtic, I'd guess if he was better than what we currently have he would be playing. No point at all playing him for the sake of it, that's what bounce games are for. Throwing unproven youngsters on when a game is locked at 1-1 probably isn't the best idea. And other than Bobby Barr, that's more or less what our bench consists of. We aren't blessed with impressive squad depth to make the sweeping substitutions people are demanding.

Both managers were hugely restricted with their choices on Saturday. Neither of them are the type to throw on a youngster in such an important game. Tbh, Yaw hasn't shown anything to suggest that he's ready for first team football. He isn't at the standard we need. He seems a nice lad, but it doesn't make him have the ability for this level. I'd far rather we had either of our front three, or Court on ahead of him. Saying that I was a little surprised we maybe didn't bring Court on to rough their defenders up in the final few minutes.

I thought Court was worth 10 minutes or so at the end but chucking Osei into that game yesterday would've been madness.

As for Hendry, you would have to assume he's perhaps not as good as Smith hoped or thought he would be.

I expect we'll see very little of him between now and the end of the season.

It's always interesting, reading how people view a match (sometimes very differently from each other).

A friend of mine took his 10 year old son to the game on Saturday (his first of the season), and the lad wrote a match report to show his class.

They were keen that I get a read of it - it was a very balanced report, with interesting observations on Ayr's "robust" approach to the game, as well as McCall's performance at the end. Even a 10 year old was able to spot he'd made an @rse of himself....

The bit that nearly made me fall off my chair reading it, though, was the following observation on the atmosphere in the Penman Stand:

"All the people around me were swearing and criticising. They didn’t even seem to enjoy the match."

I've had a word with him, advising that watching the Rovers in pressure matches can be stressful for some of us Wink

We should all take note. Chatted with Ayr supporters on way back to Edinburgh on train. Nice chaps and agreed draw was correct result but were relieved to finish game with 11 on Park.

Players tend to evoke those emotions and subsequent bad language - all part of the game eh?

I just watched the extensive highlights for a second time and between that and listening to commentary from Niall & Davie, I don't feel there is anything I missed out on by not being there so, thanks very much to all at Raith TV! Oh - and this Monday morning, how much better is it to be a Rovers fan than an Ayr fan, looking at the League Table?!

Maybe a point to be taken on board by all. It is supposed to be the Penman FAMILY stand after all. Some of the language is dreadful.

Is it?

I'm not sure if it's a Family Stand sponsored by Penman or a stand sponsored by the Penman Family.
There used to be a sign up in the block of seats nearest to the main stand saying 'Preferred Family Section' but not sure if it's still there. I'd suspect not given that it's right next to the away fans.

I'd suspect very much the latter. Wink
