I'll be dragging all 3 of my boys (whether they want to or not) and my nephew will be at his 2nd home game in about 5 years and his 3 successive game this season.

My mate and fellow 200 club member Stevie will be attending his 3rd home game this season and will be bringing both his daughter and his dad along......but being a sad Hibbi he will be sitting in the North stand. I only hope that afterwards he gets a similar welcome into the club as he did last season after the game in late March Wink

Cant be their, but 12 of my russian and bulgarian friends are coming to watch on Raith TV.

Only problem is our wives are going into town so it may well cost us each a small fortune.

Could see there was more of an effort made to try and improve the general matchday experience on Saturday.

* Players in the concourse for autograph signings and get pics taken.
* Pre-recorded message from Ray McKinnon to try and get the crowd pumped up.
* Introducing Roary, who looked like he'd popped a few pills with his rather energtic approach to entertaining the crowd Razz

* Bit more upbeat tunes and Gordon doing his best to get the crowd going.
* Half time PK comp.

Very subtle small things but good none the less.

I was at Borussia Dortmund's home match against Augsberg yesterday. The cost of a ticket to watch one of the top clubs in Europe was €16 and this also covered unlimited travel in public transport throughout the day. (I travelled to the match from Dusseldorf, so this is roughly the equivalent distance of Kirkcaldy to Glasgow)

At the back of both goals was terracing, not railed seats but actual terracing, and for €3.50 you could buy a pint in the ground which you could take to your spot on the terrace. (The crowd was 81,389 incidentally and some of the best football I've ever witnessed)

This is not unique to Dortmund, I've watched games in the 2nd tier where games are sellouts most weeks and the quality of football isn't much better than we see at Stark's Park, so no using the "better quality of football" argument

So in all, my match ticket, transport and 2 pints cost €23, which is about £17. The equivalent had I gone to Stark's Park on Saturday from Edinburgh would have been around £37 (£20 match ticket, £9 return train,£3 return bus to train station and back, £2.50 X 2 pints in the 200 club) - so more than double for Scottish second tier football.

The Bundesliga don't worry about football on television impacting on crowds because people want to go to matches - they are fun and affordable. In fact, it's almost as if football in Germany is designed around the fans (by fans, I mean the ones who go to matches. Affordability is not a issue and the quality of football does not come into it either as people want to go and support their team, rather than be "entertained"

Football in Britain has been taken away from the fans, it's now more about chasing tv & tourist money and creating a more elite fan base by whittling the support down to those who can afford it; and creating a false economy by turning our game into a consumer product

Unfortunately for us, unless the culture & attitudes towards football fans changes we will be constrained to what we can realistically do to increase attendances.

Yes Soundwave but is it not the case that the TV money that goes into German football some it is used to control the prices. I do agree with you though about having bars at various points aound the ground and being able to access the terrace with a drink. If this was available do you think it would stop the last minute rush to get into a game as you could go an hour before and have a couple of beers on the terrace with your friends.
