A fundraising and community group could be a good thing if folk want to set it up and if no one does i will never understand it.We all have our own groups doing their bits and pieces but this could work.

25 folk on here said a fundraising and community group would be a good idea but no one so far is interested in setting it up.Is it gonna be down to the same people all the time or are others going to start getting involved in helping the club.Just for example i know people who do loads for the club but if all that effort was pulled into being organised by a committee of the group what a difference it would make. All money raised from this could go straight to the boss for players or to set up new function rooms just for example. On top of that it would also be able to take the club even more into the community than it already does if organised and run properly. When we set up RECLAIM THE ROVERS [in no way is that another scenario]we got together on a regular basis to set out our fundraising ideas. This is where for another example ROCK THE ROVERS was born as in someone comes up with an idea takes to said committee who agree it can work then you go out and organise it.You then get dates for gig etc put it in the diary and that person or persons is responsible for it and bringing the money in.There is so many things that can be done to bring regular funding in as long as the group is committed to the cause.

Perhaps getting representatives from the RRFC board, from within the club, the supporters groups and fans who may have an interest and local businesses with Rovers in mind to a meeting to see if this is feasible might be a good step forward.

There will be fans who might want to be part of the group but wouldn't want to lead it?

PS Well done Jim Macnamara and group for raising over £2K from their Sports Dinner.

Maybe I`m reading you wrong but these loads of people. Why don`t they pull all their resources together and select a committee to oversee ideas/ organise fund raising?

Gavin correct me if I am wrong but I thought there was a group already set up consisting of the fans rep,the 200 club, the supporters club, the Jim Mcmillan lounge, the raith trust etc, that were supposed to meet regularly regarding these issues and others.Maybe I'm wrong somebody correct me if I am please.I thought this was set up as part of save the rovers campaign.

Yes you are correct that the fans forum was set up during the reclaim the rovers campaign as we were involved in it from the start.Since then though and no disrespect to everyone who is involved now as they are all friends but what does the forum do.I know the lads meet in fact there is one soon but no one comes out and tells us whats happening or what they are doing for the club. They may well be doing some good stuff but the clubs fans need to know whats going on.FIFE`S FINEST arent involved any more so maybe thats why i dont know anything but THE SUPPORTERS CLUB,RAITH TRUST,JIM MCMILLAN CLUB and the 200 CLUB along with FANS REP are there. If they have a fundraising group, community group and maintenance group as part of the forum then fair enough but keep us updated if no why no. Confused Wink

Gavin I'm sure that there will be a few interested possibly form a commitee from one member off each off the groups and the fans rep.....don't know if that would work or not or maybe it's been tried out??
It's certainly a great idea... There is huge potential that can be brought to the club via what the fans can offer and it's suprising that it isn't in place. I haven't heard anything from the other fan bases regarding this idea it looks to me that Fifes Finest are the only ones that really have the passion to help. I might be wrong but there doesn't seem to be much feed back from the fans rep is he communicating with the fans or only selected groups? Anyway I'd be more than happy to get involved.

The Raith Forum meet every 2 months, and they don't have a fundraising group, community group or maintenance group. The purpose of the Raith Forum is for the fans director to communicate with the 4 official supporters groups whose investment he represents in boardroom decisions - a few years ago the focus was on fundraising but the groups came to the conclusion that we were each more effective fundraising on our own, but sharing information to avoid clashes etc.

Dave Wann does communicate with the whole fanbase - his website is linked on the front page of the official website, and is at http://www.steelser.com/fanonboard/index.htm. As with all of his predecessors he is very approachable and if you want to communicate directly with him then just give him a shout.

I stated my views on a fundraising committee earlier, and I think the low level of volunteers backs up my opinion - there are way more people who think it's a good idea than there are people who would commit their time to doing it.

All i am trying to say is that the fundraising group doesnt have to centre around the official fans groups on the forum.Surely theres folk out there who arent involved in any of them who may want to get involved. What does the forum do allan and in what way does dave communicate with everyone.
