Dont know if this topic has been covered lately, did a search and couldnt find it, so here goes.
With the recent harsh winter, still not over, and the Rovers fantastic cup run we find ourselves with very busy league home straight. This brings a tough test to the squad through fitness, injuries etc.
If I was asked at the begining of the season what position would I be content with at the end, "staying up" would have been my answer. Where do you anticipate the Rovers finishing in Divison 1 2010? |

As much as I would love us to overtake the Townies, I can't really see it happening. Ayr are on a great run and Morton are plodding away picking up results here and there. I certainly can't see them both passing us but I think with a few more wins, especially against those 2 sides will keep us seventh. That would be a decent achievement for a newly promoted side and would give us a good foundation to build on next season. I know our fixture pile-up is against us but I think we're good enough to pick up the points required to stay in this league. |

I've mentioned that we have 5 out of 7 games v the bottom 3 between 23/03/10 and 17/04/10 (potential cup replay v Dundee and semi final permitting). If we can ensure we take 10 out of 21 points in these games, thats hould be ok to see us stay up and ensure safety ASAP so if there's a fixture pile-up, we can use the fixtures to give youngsters a chance. _________________ A proud member of the 45. At the start of this season I said I would take 8th by 1 goal and nothing has changed in that for me...
As long as we stay up (and hopefully avoid a playoff) then I will have a good summer!! |

As long as the fixture pile up doesn't affect the players too much (and it shouldn't they should be well rested!) I don't see us being in much trouble near the bottom of the league. 7th or 8th will do me just fine. |

It'll be interesting to see what effect the extended cup run has on the results. On one hand it could spur the players on to great things as often does with players giving their all not to be dropped. But on the other it may serve to take their eye off the ball and combined with fatigue seriously hamper us. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |
