It's got absolutely nothing to do with if it'd been Rangers. Sky had already chosen the other semi as their game, and the BBC have used their quota of Scottish Cup games. |

Agree. Both FA Cup semis are being shown live, why not the same treatment for the Scottish Cup? Still wouldn't stop me going to Hampden. _________________ A proud member of the 45. Saor Alba. |

would rather its not on tv, attendence should be slightly higher and were not playing at 1215 or 1230 which means more time to get through and make a day of it.
The descison that it would not be on tv was made before the outcome of Rangers Dundee Utd was known, presumably because Sky thought it would be Celtic Hibs. |

Exactly, it only makes the attendance slightly higher, which may generate a few thousand pounds.
However, if it was to be shown live on tv, financially, it would be a huge benefit to the club.
Anyway, none of us expected we'd still be in the Scottish Cup this far, so let's just leave the arguments. Sky will not change their mind because of a poll on the Raith fans forum. |

Sky only have the rights to show onw Scottish Cup semi-final, and they chose the Celtic tie when the draw was made, presumably because they thought it'd be a Celtic-Hibs tie, and that was more attractive than what they thought would be Rangers-Raith Rovers. They had to make the call before the completion of replays so fans are able to book buses, get the day off work and make travel arrangements.
The BBC get two matches I think, and have already shown Rangers away to St Mirren and at home to Dundee United. This will change next year, I think, where both Sky and the BBC will show a live match every tound, meaning both semis will be on TV, but there's nothing anyone could've done about it. Its a shame you'll miss the game but that's the way it goes. |

Yes I think the game should be shown live however I know already that it won't be because of reasons already posted by others, I think in previous rounds BBC Scotland should maybe have thought twice about showing a match live and think about how only 1 semi-final would then by shown live on TV because of their quota of matches and Sky Sports only being allowed to show 1 semi. Oh well just have to get to the final then we will have both broadcasters' live coverage |

OK, so they can show only 1 match live and that game has been picked, BUT , whats the story about match highlights and how long (if) they will be.
There are tens of thousands of peeps not going to get there for a myraid of reasons.............not all live within easy travel distance, live abroad, etc etc etc ..............whats the chances of a decent amount of highlights................anyone know the answer..........anyone got a cat who once caught a mouse that once crapped on the floor of a BBC/sky office?
PS Only death (and roadworks ) will stop me getting there _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |
