| I'm having a debate with a fellow fantalk user who rates Murray as the most successful manager in the last 20 years due to the cup win. I claimed that Mcglynn's record was better. What do you think?? |

| McGlynn, no doubt. He got us out of the 2nd division. The Ramsden's Cup win, while welcome, is diddly compared to playing in the Championship. |

Mcglynn was far more successful. He took over when we were at rock bottom and took us to within a whisker of the premier league. Only an over spending Dunfermline managed to pip is at the post but they soon had their comeuppance for spending what they couldn't afford.
The ramsdens cup was great but it's a diddy cup

The Ramsdens Cup win was fantastic. Folk call it a diddy cup but it took on more significance when we ended up with the chance of denying the Rangers their first cup win. Absolutely glorious when we did.
McGlynn though, is a Rovers legend. Brought a great amount of professionalism to our club both on the park and off it. Dragged us back to our level, kept us there with vast budget restraints and made us a respected club again after taking control of a bit of a shambles.
My second favourite gaffer after Sir Jimmy. |

Probably have to say McGlynn. He got us promoted to the First Division at only the third time of asking. In his three seasons with us in the First he twice won us our relegation battle and in the middle season we finished only 10 points behind champions Dunfermline.

| Given the money available to both men it's Murray for me. Look what McGlynn's doing now with no money at Livingston. And I still haven't forgiven him for dropping McGurn in favour of McNeil against the cheats. |

Mcglynn for many reasons but the main one for me was demanding and usually getting maximum effort in every game right to the death, something that is lacking big style at the moment.

Mcglynn , he systematically rebuilt our club and put us onto a solid footing that we have today .
We should be more grateful to him than any other manager we have had in recent times . He should also be credited with bringing on some of the youth players we have on the fringe of our squad right now .
Although at times on the park we could be boring to watch , everyone knew there job and we defended from the front to the back. My favourite back 3 , HILL , CAMPBELL, ANDREWS

IMO your fellow Fantalk user is wrong on two counts. The last 20 years would include Nicholl's first stint at the club.
The only reason the diddy cup win is getting bigged up, is due to the opponents in the final. John McGlynn's record of a 2nd Division title, a Scottish Cup Semi-final, and a 1st Division title challenge, was infinitely more impressive. McGlynn put us back on the footballing map, and is the second most successful Rovers manager in my time, after Jimmy Nicholl. McGlynn also won PFA Scotland Manager of the Year.

That 10 point thing is overstated as well. The players pretty much downed tools after the defeat at Dunfermline, as they knew the gig was up. What were the next two results? A home defeat to QoS, where we went down without a whimper, then from memory, a thrashing at Partick Thistle.
We were at the top of the league for large periods of the season and it only started to go wrong towards the end, with some dodgy results at home against the likes of Cowdenbeath. In saying that, we never really looked like champions elect.
