What’s up with Stanton, Matthews, Dabrowski, Watson, Murray?

Stanton - Out until at least early February, probably mid to late. Is in a knee brace.

Matthews - Good question. Played last weekend, absent today, concerning.

Big Kev - Injured, recovering from a likely quad strain to go with a nasty hip bruise.

Watson - Supposedly trained with the team the last two to three weeks, but still absent from the bench, concerning.

Murray - Injured. Left match last week with injury, was already handling aniggling shoulder injury.

Season still has plenty to play for but I think the suspicions that we all had that we weren't really champion material has been confirmed by taking five points from the last possible twelve.
We simply cannot defend and it doesn't matter who we play in the back line the other teams know now, attack Raith because they will concede. That's part of the reason why we've pulled off so many last gasp comeback. Teams have taken the lead against us and then sat back. If they had just kept coming at us they would have been out of sight before we had a chance to produce a late show.
Wellyboot pretty accurately summed up the individual performances. Easton is playing to potential suitors in my opinion now and in doing so is producing his poorest form of the campaign.
Hard to judge Turner on his first appearance. Looks like a talented player but didn't produce anything that resulted in a dangerous move for us and I thought he would have been deployed further forward.
Thought Murray waited too long to make changes. Subs need time to get up to the speed of the game and then they can make a difference but we didn't give them that chance.
Nobody can deny that if we were to finish second this season it would be classed as a very good season and the prize money would be most welcome for next season's budget but if we don't arrest this alarming drop in results (not performances as they've been middling most games) then second is by no means assured. Over to you Ian Murray.

Isn’t it 5 from a possible 15 (2 draws, win, 2 defeats).

We’ve stopped the slick forward passing game we were doing until recently, and now resorting to short passes across the back followed by a long punt up to Hamilton. who then flicks it on to their defence.

I hope Millen feels the brunt of his silly red card last week as it was at right back where we were weakest today.

Wasn't it Turner's pass out to Easton that lead to the shot, going just wide, that Jack redirected into the net?

An assist to the assist? I'll have to wait to see it again though I really don't want to watch the highlights.

We underperformed once more. While Queens barely deserved their win, we helped them out. Stood off them too much for equaliser and defended like amateurs in conceding the corner leading to 2nd, two or three chances to avoid doing so.

Rubbish boooooooo

“But we are 2md”
“Would you have accepted this start”

Yeah, yeah but we were still rank for best part today so boooooo

You cant sustain a credible challenge for the title with a winger, a midfielder and a youngster who has barely played across your back line.

Queens looked a far better side than one languishing a massive 24 points behind us.

It was a actually a pretty decent game and given Hamiltons header save and Gullan hitting the bar we were probably worth a point.

I'm not unduly concerned about losing today or indeed last week. However the overall slump in our overall form must be arrested if we are to secure 2nd and retain an outside pop at the title.

The break for the cup comes at a good time. A chance to regroup.

Today for me recalibrated expectations somewhat. I think second is now as good as we can do. Cant see United messing up badly from here. Unfortunately our downfall is more about losing commanding positions against Arbroath and Ayr than losing outright last week and today.

A goal up after 2 minutes. The Queens keeper makes three great saves and Gullane hits the bar.

But we were disjointed, dreadful defending, amateurish ball control, head tennis continues and very poor creative play if any?

We need a solid centre half, a playmaker and the injured players back.

I thought the best team won.

Stanton is a huge loss to the team.
Our defending was poor.
Our creativity was missing.
We try to walk the ball into the net.
We rarely shoot from outside the box.
Sorely disappointed.

IM has his work cut out on the training ground. Our goals against is very poor, fortunately we have scored plenty but even that is not enough to cover up our failure to defend.

We do have injuries at the back but I think to use that as an excuse for our season long habit of leaking goals is just that......an excuse.

All season we have conceded too many goals through a defence that seems to lack cohesion.
The players have to take responsibility.
They rightly accept the plaudits, they must also recognise and learn from their mistakes individually and as a group.

There is a long way to go but players have to look in the mirror, they have to listen to their coach/ manager , they must learn from their mistakes.

If an individual does not accept constructive criticism and act upon it......then he should stay on the sidelines until the manager sees an improvement and a better more effective work rate.

Comments on the other channel about a QP supporters bus getting stones thrown at it. Ridiculous behaviour if true

On the balance of play, I honestly don't think we deserved to lose that. We didn't catch any sort of break in front of goal with Ferrie making a great save from Connolly, followed by an absolute worldie from Hamilton's header, then Gullan's free kick off the underside of the bar with the keeper well beaten.
However, eleven goals shipped in four home games tells a sorry story, especially as we've been ahead in every one of those games.

We also need to bin this two at the back nonsense when we're behind. Gullan for Corr gave us a bit more presence up top, but when Smith came on for Mullin it meant we couldn't play out from the back other than launching it high and long, the consequence being that the ball spent most of the time in the air at we had too many forwards almost getting in each other's way.

There's been a fair few in the "heads gone" category on this forum, the other channel and Facebook because of the poor return of points in the last three games against the bottom three clubs. If you are having a sticky patch would you not be better dropping points against these teams rather than the teams closer to you i.e. United, Partick and at New Year the Pars when they were still in fourth spot?
Less damage surely?

We are still equal top albeit United with the game in hand (Morton away in a midweek fixture in February) and with admittedly a far superior GD.

Long long way yet to go folks.

As long as we can get back on track and don't end up going through another sticky spell like QP had last session in the closing fixtures we'll have entered the play offs, if not having hopefully won the title with a game or two to go.🤞😄

I'm fairly sure that this will yet go down to the wire.

You are correct in much of what you say however, the form of the first half of the season has, IMHO, unrealistically raised expectations and this can be seen in the attendances being achieved for one. Questions are now being asked about the future, rightly so but, are we just victims of that early season success.

I am still frustrated that the defensive frailties have not been addressed, even when it looked like we had a suitable player in, he has left to go to what will no doubt become one of our playoff rivals. Unless IM has some defensive aces up his sleeves that was an error. Surely the club knows the approximate budgets of those around us and if we cannot compete against those budgets then expectations have to be managed better.

On occasion, Murray has mentioned in pre/post match interviews that he is looking to cement a playoff spot initially, this message needs to be louder for, realistically, that is our goal for the season. With the finances available to The Arabs, Jags, Caley, Pars and even Queens we are fishing in an ever decreasing pool of resources and we have heard often about the work being done behind the scenes to source players, does no one know how to find a defender? or perhaps for whatever reason, they still don't think it is a priority. Maybe the right one doesn't exist? What we cannot afford to do is keep playing players out of position until our injuries clear up or that return of 1pt from 9 might look even bleaker in a few games time, it also tempts staff and players to play guys who are not 100% fit, which leads to bigger problems at the end of the season when we really will need a full and fit squad.

I am not suggesting the bubble has burst because we are currently exceeding expectations and it is likely that cannot be continued, but I am sure I can hear a wee hissing sound in the distance if the defence isn't bolstered with a couple of quality players, and soon.
