An incredibly poor game of football as far as quality goes. Forfar never really threatened us but if they didn't press the self destruct button we were in trouble because we never threatened them either. Did either goalie have a save to make in anger? Was at the other end of the ground so I couldn't really tell what happened for the Forfar goal but it looked very sloppy at best. Dobbie will bag another couple of hat tricks if that's the standard. Nevermind we got the result we needed and have got ourselves another home game and some extra pennies in the bank account. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Well, I don't know what anyone might have been expecting - certainly, I didn't go to Forfar expecting any kind of silky soccer. But what decent play there was (not a lot, granted, but anyway) came from Raith Rovers
Calderon has said we weren't really troubled: that may have been true late in the game, but I'd argue that the first ten minutes of the second half were difficult for us, and then we lost a set-piece goal (again). Odds were against us at that point.
But then we got a break when their defender's clearance rebounded back to Nisbet, and his pass put Flanagan through. The double-whammy of equaliser and red card floored Forfar, and we were comfortable from then on.
Next week, who knows? But we've got a chance, and a half-decent one at that against a team so reliant on one player you'd think they were Wales! (OK, except Wales have two players) |

Thoroughly deserved win. Better team on the park today, after looking second best for much of Tuesday night. Fought for everything and some decent passing football, while growing in confidence as the game progressed. Queen’s will be clear favourites in this version of a Cup Final for us. So were Celtic. So were Rangers. |

I was more meaning after we scored we weren't in danger. At 1-0 i was fearing the worst. |

Well done Rovers. Just the small matter of stopping Dobbie over the next two games. So pleased to here that Baird lost the plot today as he has consistently been the difference in matches he has been involved in for Falkirk & Forfar. Wiping that smug grin off his mug would've been worth seeing. |

I also meant to mention that, for the second time this week,Man of the Match just has to have been Ross Matthews. Maybe the young lad has come of age, but whatever, there is a real edge and some real steel to his game now.
First half today, he was the midfield leader, at least by example. Even though wide right to start with, he was closing down defenders well up the park, supporting Nisbet and Gullan as the first line of defence. And when in possession, he was breaking forward well.
Second half, now in centre mid, he was everywhere, winning possession, closing down and, yes, passing well when we had the ball.
Final point - of all the yellow cards dished out this afternoon, his was the only one totally unjustified, as it was for a great solid tackle, from the side, that won the ball cleanly.
He should be the manager's first pick next week, and the first re-signing for 2019-20 |

Other than an horrendous opening ten minutes of the second half, I felt, like most others on here, we were the better side.
Still woefully slow to press and close down in the first half, but offered more than Forfar going forward (I'm sure Baird's goal was their only effort on target).
Forfar were incredibly dirty and poor show from Baird constantly narking at the referee to book Rovers players. I thought Matthews challenge was a booking - it looked late and slightly out of control, but I'd be happy for TV highlights to prove otherwise.
We saw the tie out with relative ease, especially considering the kicking we were on the receiving end of.
Not something we've tended to do this season, but would it be worth doubling up on Dobbie next week? He pretty much defies the thought that one man doesn't make a team. _________________ Dougie Hill

Been listening to manager's interview.
Is it me or does he come across as being a bit agitated, so much so he's longingly looking at his watch at one point?
Anyway, he seems to think that it all went to plan apart from the goal against which he admits was a poor one to lose.
How many of these type have we lost in the season?
It's all history now.
Just got to create more positive history over the next two games.
I admit freely I didn't see us getting past Forfar so well done everyone.
Prove me wrong now in the two legs final. Purrleeeease! _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Embow - he always comes over a little furtive and maybe there were only a limited number of post match bridies on offer. Happy with that today though although for us armchair supporters it was a bit nerve racking!! I do usually try to get to games but today and the next two I am indisposed. _________________ Here Wee go again |

Echo others, we controlled a pretty pedestrian 1st half, barely any action in either goal mouth.
Lost goal, everyone shat it .... here we go again we all thought but a lucky break and a wee pass slipped through and its penalty, red card, 1-1 and we never looked like losing another.
QoS will have a hell of a lot better quality than was on show from Forfar (and ourselves) over those two games so we will have to raise things. Better opponents will hopefully help that to happen |

Now there's a word I've no' heard of since the days of John Grieve playing McPhail the Engineer in the Para Handy episodes way back!
The skipper was aye, ' Furtive, furtive, Ah tell ye!' in his estimation!
John McGlynn isn't furtive in his interview just agitated with something or maybe someone? He just looks as if he wants away for whatever reason. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

We stayed down at that end for the second half. Baird's initial touch from the corner hit someone on the ankle (a Forfar player I think) and went in - don't think Lyness was going to save it anyway, but after the deflection he had no chance. _________________ Follow the Trust on facebook and twitter |
