I can't recall the page number, but having a baby daughter seems to get me out of attending quite a few games. Wink

Aberdeen on Wednesday was my first and only Rovers game of the season so far. If i'm very good, my wife might let me go to the Stirling game.

Personally, I find it difficult getting my friends to go to the football, and I can't be arsed going on my own. That's the main reason I didn't go to the game today.

I then had the option of going on my own or sitting in the house with the wife and daughter watching Gabby Logan on BBC Final Score and seeing if my coupon came in. I also had an apple turnover and a cup of tea. Mmmmm.

As for the comments from harrington, I don't blame the folk that put a coupon on and sit in the pub. That's often a lot more fun than actually going to the game.

What's the point in having an excuse book if I don't use it?

My wife did guilt trip me, but the fact that I couldn't find anyone else who was going was a factor.

I promise that I will sit in the pub and watch Scotland playing the Czech Republic and Spain. Does that count?

Right, 2 games early i know, but time to look at the team and division this year.

Firstly i will base this on the assumption we get 4 points from the next 2 games, although on current form i do expect us to get all 6, all be it a narrow win over cowden and the hope the team dont get too complacent.

The league, whilst it may not appear so will be much tighter than last season as i fully expect PT, Morton and DD to improve, possibly after managerial changes in the near future and for county to improve too. I will be surprised if cowden maintain there current position, but you never know with JN at the helm

So now to the Rovers. A wonderful start to the season and with the iminent return of Sparky to the squad we are looking strong all over the park.

If my assumption is correct and we do get 4 points from the next 2 games we will sit comfortably in 1st or 2nd on 21 points. A figure that if we maintained throughout the season would give us 84 points come next may. That will not be the case though because it would be a miracle if we did have that average of 21 points per quarter. However, i am going to up the anti here and say we could very easily average 15 points for the following 3 quarters giving us a total of 66 points which this season could well put us in the top 3 or even win the league.

Carry on playing and entertaining as we are and i would expect the gates to rise which i hope would allow the board to increase the player budget to allow the gaffer to sign permanently our loan signing and possibly bring in 1 or maybe even 2 more players possibly on a 6 month loan deal during the next transfer window

I suggest we can keep this momentum going to a large degree and that now our target has to be the mid 60's points and see where we are in relation to that come the end of the 3rd quarter.

At this time we are definately heading for a top 3 finish with the very real possibility of actually winning the league.

That's what happens when you start a thread on how we've done in the first quarter before the first quarter is over.

I figured I would wait until after the first quarter before posting on this thread. I said before the start of the season, that we are capable of finishing in the top four but would accept an improvement on last season. Now, after this excellent start I would maybe be a wee bit disappointed if we finished lower than fourth. Deep down, I don't think we are genuine title contenders but it would be great if we could stay up there for as long as possible. Big games, big crowds is just what this club needs to raise the average home support. Our hardcore support has dwindled over the years to about 1200 at it's lowest to about 1500 at the moment. There will always be people who only turn out for the big games but I would like to think we could encourage some of them back more regularly if we are challenging near the top in this league.

I have been at 5 of these first 9 games(for the record, we have won all 5 of these games) in the league so I can only comment on what I have seen. We have shown we are capable of playing decent football and also of grinding out results when we don't play so well. I firmly believe that on our day, we can beat any team in this league. Dunfermline are probably the favourites and rightly so but Ross County and Falkirk have also proven they are quality sides. I think if we stay relatively free of injury and suspension, then we can mix it with these 3 sides. Obviously that is a big if.

It's going to be a long, hard season but I would be delighted to finish anywhere in the top four.
