Raith Rovers are delighted to announce the loan signing of striker Zak Rudden.
23 year old Zak has signed for the club on loan from SPFL Premiership club Dundee until the end of the current season.
Rovers manager Ian Murray spoke exclusively to www.raithrovers.net and said:
“I’m very happy to add Zak to our squad and to him available for tomorrows match.
He brings another physical presence to us and has proven himself in this league.
Zak has showed tremendous hunger in joining us ahead of a host of other clubs, and we aim to improve him as a player.
Zak will be a big asset for us in the second part of this season”.
Zak started his football career in the youth system of Rangers FC, moving up to train with the first team in 2018.
A season – long loan spell in the SPFL Championship at Falkirk in season 2018 – 19 (where Zak scored 12 goals) was then followed by a half – season spell on loan in English League 2 with Plymouth Argyle.
Zak then spent 2 years with Partick Thistle in SPFL League 1 and the SPFL Championship, playing nearly 50 times and scoring 16 goals (including a goal scored as a 72nd minute sub against the Rovers in September 2021 that his new club won 3-2), before signing for Dundee FC on a pre-contract agreement in January 2022.
Zak then joined Dundee on loan until the end of that season on a 3 year deal, making the move permanent the following season.
In his time at Dundee Zak played over 50 times, and also spent half a season on loan at fellow Premiership club St Johnstone last season. He has also represented Scotland at youth international levels, up to and including under-21s. _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

With Gullan away (who was one of the highest paid players in squad) this seems a no lose gamble.
Bit like Turner, if he can get back to what we seen with Thistle then will be a very good addition… |

A good addition. Dundee fans saying he gives 100% and is a constant threat to defenders. That will do for me as i feel we lack that, but time will tell. |

Think it was pretty well known that he and Ethan Ross were signed to decent contracts by McGlynn making them two of the highest earners.
Obviously he will have been overtaken by several since but my point really was that getting a player who didn’t really fit into Murray’s plans off the wage bill and replaced with Rudden seems good business. |

It may possibly be good business financially, but what does the incoming player offer that is substantially better than the outgoing one?
I just hope that Zak gets a better chance than Jamie to show what he is capable of, and he doesn't end up just filling a space on the bench for lengthy periods of games.
Grab a couple of goals tomorrow and he'll be off to a very good start.🤞 _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Not our job mate, just need to trust the manager.
I like Rudden as a player from what I’ve seen of him, the main problem I see here is that we are so top heavy as a squad that (avoiding injuries) we are going to have 3 or 4 quality attacking players on the bench week in week out so do you go for continuity or do you go with chopping and changing to keep everyone happy? It’s a difficult juggling act which hasn’t worked so well last few weeks |

Just play them in central defence. |

Listened to his interview. He seems like he might be a bit of a catalyst for scoring and assisting goals. A fast, motivated forward, who presses defenders and does not give them thinking-time. Welcome to the Rovers Zak!
I am sure the manager will sign defenders to make sure that your goals do not go to waste! |
