|
|
The club have today completed the signing of defender Daniel O’Reilly – a free agent – on a deal until January 2024.
With injuries and suspensions to key players in Rovers back line, the Rovers coaching team have moved swiftly to make sure cover is in place over the next months with the signing of the former Hamilton Accies defender.
Daniel (aged 2 has extensive experience of football in his native Ireland, having started out in youth football at Cherry Orchard in Dublin before joining the Fulham FC Academy.
After 4 years with the Craven Cottage club, Daniel returned to Ireland and represented Bray Wanderers and Longford Town. A short spell in England at Eastbourne Borough in the National League South then followed before a return home to play again for Longford, Finn Harps, Shelbourne and Drogheda United.
Daniel made the move to Scotland on January 1st of last year, signing for Hamilton Academical after rejecting several offers from clubs in Ireland. He played over 60 times for the New Douglas Park side, scoring 6 goals.
Rovers manager Ian Murray commented on the signing: “I’m really happy Dan has agreed a deal with the club, he gives us more defensive options and he played well against us last season.
Dan trained with us last week and showed a real hunger to come here, which is what we look for when signing a player. We look forward to working with him. _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

Could be a case of Dan's the man!🫣🙄
Is he a full back, or centre back, or versatile anywhere across the back?
Whichever one it is, welcome to the club and hope you are very successful in your time with Raith. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

Not sure signing a defender who couldn't get a deal with a club in freefall comes over as good on paper, guess we will have to hope Potts has done his homework as diligently as before. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Shown as primarily a CB, with time at LB too…that’ll help in two weeks, eh? |

Also missed the pen in playoffs that subsequently relegated Hamilton and promoted Airdrie. |

As the investors say “ past performance is no guarantee to the future” or summit like that.
I would simply say that so far the club/management have been pretty good as to whom they have signed.
Kinda hoping the guy doesn’t read this underwhelming welcome. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

He'll be absolutely fine.
Nothing better than getting a contract again after being put on the scrap heap. He's back doing what he wants to in life, namely, being
a decent professional football player, and will be out to show everyone that.
All the very best, Dan. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

It's good news that we've signed Dan. Without Keith Watson , we have been vulnerable in the air at the back. Dan will win more than his fair share of headers and also shore up the defence generally. I would like to think that he will win himself a contract for the balance of the season. Play well for The Rovers, Dan ! |

Effectively signed for 2 months - big incentive for the lad to do well in that short time.
I thought Watson was due back soon? Still glad to see any kind of defender signed.
Welcome to the Rovers Dan! |

The boy done good tonight.
Looked solid enough, mind you it was only against the wee team. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

I agree. Very decent performance considering he has been without a club. Conceded a penalty that never should have been given. _________________ Two pints prick |

The penalty was soft but the booking he got for it was farcical.
Pars claimed an hand ball in the deflection that lead to the corner and penalty. The BBC pundits reckoned it was a hand ball and Gollum was just making up for his missing the first offence, I've yet to see any replays that show the hand ball.
The two free kicks we scored from were both soft, the 1st given after after Easton was fouled in the build up when WC tried to play the advantage.
The second looked like a dive from Millen, he may well have felt at touch but he took two strides before he went down as if shot.
Who cares? Happy days! _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |
