We need a leader at the back and he was the Pars captain that season. He's robust and good in the air.
The managerial situation at Dundee may not aid a move though. |
How so, his contract expires in 18 days. |

Because he might want to hold off speaking to other clubs until he finds out if the new Dundee manager is going to offer him a deal. _________________ Dougie Hill

Exactly, SG, exactly that.
We would also require to offer him a decent package as there aren't many CBs with his experience available in the Championship. |

Aye, but the way that eejit Nelms runs Dundee anything could happen, thinks he is Gods' gift to football, wouldn't surprise me if he is already making decisions on contracts himself. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I thought we might get Lewis Stevenson from Hibs. Local boy and I believe he has a soft spot for us. However, he signed a new one year deal recently |

Waiting can be a critical error these days too, though. You might get a good offer and if you wait it goes away. The fact the whole Dundee team is going out of contract, excepting 3 who remain plus 1 just re-signed, suggested a total overhaul. The re-signing of Lyall suggests to other players if you don’t have an offer right now… |

Nah, too easy to speculate from an armchair versus doing the job…that’s what’s great about forums! |

Funny how things change in the space of 24 months, not that long ago after his departure from Eastend Park Ashcroft was being suggest as a possible target for us, most Rovers fans had him written off as an out and out donkey, no doubt his hapless performance and red card in the cup game influenced the thinking at the time.
Can remember I wasn't keen at the time either, but now? Mibbies. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Was there not talk that we had tried to get him from Dundee at the start of this season too after Berra retired? |

I hope we have some kind of proper, fit-for-purpose squad in place by the start of the League Cup Qualifiers. Those games are not just meaningless kick-abouts or pre-season friendlies, as some people seem to think. Last year we missed out on a lucrative away game at Ibrox, after losing too many points to lower-league opposition. Given that, if we had not lost to Stirling Albion on penalties, we might have had the money (from Rangers away) to get a target man in place and our whole season might have been very different.
Okay we were " a work in progress" then (IM came in late) but no excuses this time! IM and the BoD know exactly what they need to do and the timescale they need to do it in. We were the only team in the league to know which league we would play in next season - weeks ahead of the others. We had a head-start. With any luck the homework would have started at that point. |

Good points , Neil.
IM did say that we would not be chasing players at the last minute, like last time, and so
we hope the right guys are not too difficult to deal with!
Meantime, this week, it will be about who is goIng and if any are staying!! |

Delighted to see the club re sign Masson and Mitchell. Both very promising young players.
Would like to see the released list though! Wondering if the positive news first is to soften the baw booting we’re about to get. _________________ RIP RONNIE |

After today's signing news on Thomson, that just leaves MacDonald, Spencer and Connolly from the out of contract players yet to decide what they're doing.
It maybe after the play-offs that we'll hear about new signings |

In The Record that MacDonald has rejected a new deal after being asked to take a significant pay cut. |
