The reality is that few of the players mentioned would merit being reappointed given recent performances - 2 draws in 8 games is it? Apart from those already signed not too bothered if the rest are replaced. Like Masson and Lang though. Even Connolly has been tepid lately. Anyway like all on here wish the team the best for next season and appreciate that we still have a team and for finishing 7th top of a very competitive league. _________________ Here Wee go again |

I think the news from the interview is pertinent in this discussion. The 21-22 season payroll was 150% of 20-21, and was a “one off”. That means that IM’s budget was likely something close to 70% of the previous year…with a number of continuing deals. Let’s look at the players carried over from 21-22:
Arnott, Berra, Bow, Connolly, Dick, Gullan, MacDonald, Mahady, Matthews, Masson, Mitchell, Ross, Spencer, Stanton, Thomson, Vaughan, Young, Zanatta
Added quickly:
Brown, Easton, Spencer, Millen
You would have to think that pretty much expended most of his playing budget, so the budgetary revelation does make me wonder what IM was expecting to be able to use to get CB/FB help, although he had Berra. Berra leaving probably freed up decent cash, likewise moving Zanatta on, but it certainly explains why we were deep in the loan bin. |

Connolly had a great 2022 but his 2023 wasn't great.
I think he last scored on 28th January and has been off it since.
He's been great and I've loved the way he cut in and shoots but he's part of a small team, too many wee guys who get shoved about.
I'll be happy if he stays but if he goes I hope we replace him with some with the same attributes but bigger, or at least more physical. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 18, Easton 11, Hamilton 10, Smith 9, Stanton 7, Mullin 4, Connolly 3, O'Reilly 3, Rudden 3, S Brown 1, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Millen 1, Mitchell 1, Murray, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Hopefully we’ll see a retained/released list this week at some point. Usually the odd “in negotiations with” too.
Not expecting too many of the out of contract players to stay and expect we may even see one of the older/McGlynn era “in contract” players move on.
Would be happy if the rumour with Barjonas and Agyeman were true but probably ain’t. _________________ RIP RONNIE |

Overthemoon has posted this on the other channel from The Record:
Raith Rovers have tabled a number of contract extensions.
Boss Ian Murray has offered new deals to Jamie MacDonald, Liam Dick, Aidan Connolly and captain Scott Brown.
Midfielder Brad Spencer also has the option of another, which the player can trigger, at his request, by the end of the month.
New chief executive Andrew Barrowman and Murray met the players last week to make offers and discuss their futures.
Rovers hope to have answers from the majority of their squad by next week.
I would add, Scott Brown must be An extra extension offer , because he already accepted a one year extension. No surprise they want to tie him down for longer. |

Thought Masson had been offered a deal and deciding whether to take it, is so that article isn't very accurate |

Also according to the Daily Ranger we are looking to sign Stanger from Alloa, all from under the nose of Ayr. Usual caveats apply _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Dundee has a few CB’s out of contract, in fact all except French. That’s Sweeney, McGhee, Ashcroft and Fisher. All but Fisher played at least 75% of the starts in some position, Sweeney and McGhee are both 26, Ashcroft is 29 and Fisher is 21. Any but Fisher could probably immediately step in over Lang, Nolan or Dick…just saying, Dundee may well be moving in a different direction. |

I would take Ashcroft, perhaps not brilliant but consistently good, especially against us _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I'd take Lee Ashcroft too, although he did get himself ordered off in the Lewis Vaughan hat trick game.
We need a leader at the back and he was the Pars captain that season. He's robust and good in the air.
The managerial situation at Dundee may not aid a move though. |
