Good point Tam - RRFC IS a business - technically an entertainment business at that. A plan to attract customers would be good - make fans WANT to attend home games instead of telling them they should! |

Unless you have access to his contract how do you know this? There have been managers of football and businesses that have resigned and received substantial compensation

No Vinnie I don't have access to his contract though I would be amazed if the contract had a clause that compensated Murray for resigning and failing to honour his side of the contract. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

That's some interpretation of the written word you've got. I said that recruitment of a new manager would be difficult if Murray was not properly compensated. |

Mutual consent is just a polite way of saying "he got sacked". At bigger clubs and indeed businesses compensation may well be paid to those who resign but that's usually with the caveat that the individual in question keeps quiet and doesn't embarrass his ex employer. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Pressumably GM's contract / expectation for perfomance would have to be measurable, for example: "to, as a minimum, maintain a safe position in the Scottish Championship". It's hard to see how dwindling attendances could easily be linked to the wording of a contract, but if the wording was clever enough, it might include something like "in accordance with club policy" - in which case he could be told to stop the negative game-plan, because it's driving fans away. |

You have to ask the Board " why did you offer the current manager such a long contract on the back of what was only a good start to the season " .
We played well in the first quarter of season 13/14 and the board offer an extension of 24 months . There wasn't any other clubs kicking down the door to take Murray away from us so you have to ask why was this done in the first place . I would also like to add that Murray was very much untried at that time . Perhaps offering contracts like that after you have assessed his performance over a whole season . The
So firstly , a mistake by the board and now we are tied to that . Secondly ,season long contracts keep managers and players on there toes .
Like I have said in another thread , if we are still going thorough the same motions by mid January , playing poor , dropping points and more of the same from what we have seen from the first quarter , then Murray has had more than enough time . Its time to move on for the good of the club and the individual . _________________ Only on fan talk can supporters find a negative in a 5-0 win. 🤔 |

It's been quite a long time since I moved into the 'Murray must go' camp. What I've been watching since December last year is the most uninspiring drivel you could imagine that group of players could muster. The root causes of this lie in the management and coaching. Claiming injuries as a key factor is only papering over the huge chasm that is our credibility as a football team. We're poor, and getting worse. We ARE in a false position in the league, and will drop down to where we deserve to be - 8th at best. If that is what the board aspire to, then hell mend them.
Lose to Linlithgow Rose next week and he MUST go. If not, a humbling by Hearts would surely force a long overdue decision.
The BOD need to look at the bigger picture. They're still blinkered by a freak cup win. |

Feel sorry for Murray. Genuine, nice guy. Was a tremendous defender for us too but as a manager he just isn't cutting it, far too many things are wrong with what is going on during a match and most of which falls at Murray's door.
Please board don't wait until it is too late. Relegation IS a serious prospect this season if things continue as they are and what were loyal fans (myself included) are disappearing fast. Thinking of money...Do you want to miss out on one or two of the 'big' three next season and probably Dunfermline too? This season has decent prize money for league position, right guy in charge could lead us to 4th or 5th easily, Murray will struggle to avoid 9th or 10th, that in itself covers the cost of any pay offs.
Starks Park is a miserable place to be on a Sat afternoon. For the best part of 30 years I have missed weddings, changed holiday dates etc to coincide with making every Rovers game, now, I usually sit in the house 10mins down the road and read updates. I have followed us through many dark times, loyalty never wavered until now, defeats were always acceptable if we were doing all we could to achieve the best outcome. Grant Murray is failing as a manager, failing as a coach, his teams don't perform, he seems able to sign a good player and turn them into average in a matter of months. The football he has us playing is driving people away, many will struggle to get back into the habit ever again, act soon and we could rescue not just the season but so much more. |

Excellent post and more than likely represents the feelings of most rovers fans these days.
I used to do anything and everything to get along to games but I just don't have an appetite to go watch what's on offer these days.
We will do well financially this season but only due to 3 big clubs being in our league. At this rate, our attendances will drop below 1,000 against the lesser times sooner or later. Compare that to Dunfermline getting over 3,000 and you can see why so many of us are concerned.
Yes, we're fourth but the football on offer is absolutely dreadful and horrific to watch. I see so many other sides trying to get the ball down and play. We have a plethora of footballers that (especially the ex Livi brigade) who were used to playing attractive free flowing football. We all know they have ability but are clearly not bring managed/coached properly. |

Surely he could be offered the option to negotiate a settlement to walk away, with the club saying they want to move in a different direction.
If he doesn't accept that then it would be a case of sack him, pay him till the end of the season and see him court for the rest!
Problem is none of us knows what caveats are in his contract, I doubt there is a huge financial penalty for sacking him, our board are actually a bit smarter than that, honestly.
Until we are out of all cup competitions and languishing in the relegation zone then I can't see anything changing.
Assuming we beat the Rose (big assumption I know) the 3 games after Hearts could be pivotal (expect nothing from Hearts game).
If the board are considering replacing him though they must do it so the new manager has the time to assess the squad and decide who he needs to bring into the club in the January window.
If he is still there at the end of November I can't see him going unless we go down and even then there is no guarantees. _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I am another fan giving up. I've been going to Starks since the mid 60's but didn't buy a season ticket this year because I saw the writing on the wall. I heard several fans yesterday, mostly guys like me in their 60's, saying they wouldn't be at the next home match, and I'm thinking along the same lines. Yesterday's tactics/performance was, as has been alluded to on this forum, abysmal. Enough is enough. I've had it I'm afraid. Rovers have good players but they're wasted with the negative tactics from Murray. |
