As part of the ongoing programme to improve the website I've changed the format for the picture page.

The photos are bigger and clearer and there's no need to scroll down the page.

Let me know what format you prefer by answering the poll question!

Check out the new format Here

I have to say, whilst the pictures are ever so slightly clearer, I still prefer the old picture page. The main reason for this being that it took me ages to look at the pictures, where-as I prefer to have a quick browse.

I agree. I like the idea, but the old picture page was much better.

Having thought about this again, i think that if you can add 'Pause', 'Play' and 'Skip' buttons, then it would make the feature much better.

Jim, this looks great. Perhaps you could include a thumbnail feature so that when the slideshow is finished, anyone can click on a particular photo to look at it again.

Alternatively Latto has a good suggestion - add the 3 buttons.

I am aware that the slide show app you used is free, and I am sure that a free alternative suggestion would be appropriate. I suggest using something such as SimpleViewer (http://www.airtightinteractive.com/simpleviewer/). It looks good, easy to use, and allows for good quality pictures.

I am aware of simpleviewer and have used it, and as asked in other posts, it is possible to add various buttons and features to what I'm using at the moment, but I'm really only interested in finding out whether the slideshow format, regardless of what facility is used, is what people want or would most people prefer to stick with the fixed page format.

I am aware that some people prefer not to post comments and opinions so I've added a poll to the top of the page.

Most definitely prefer this new format.

I prefer the slideshow format, but would definitely want to see navigation buttons - I think I'd get pretty tired of this quite quickly as it is.

Slideshow with personal control buttons does it for me! Wink
Will there still be room for the photographer's pithy captions in the drop down box at the top? Laughing
These, I would miss with the new format. Some might even say it's progress! Laughing

Yeah, I'm another who likes the slideshow idea but it'd be much better to have wee buttons at the bottom for you to go forward and back as you please, rather than waiting on the slideshow to change.

It's a good addition, but if it were a straight choice between how it is now and how it was, I'd go for the old format - if the wee buttons are added, the slideshow.
