I’ll leave someone else to start the next thread. Thought some of our play was excellent tonight as was Ayr’s. Thought some of our play was awful tonight as was Ayr’s. Could really do with trying out an O’Neil and Corr partnership. That pairing this evening was poor. Watch Murray on goal 3 for Ayr - stood there admiring the player. But still what a thrilling game.

Sorry - MacNeil - O Reilly? The lad that we got recently. Thought he was pretty good. Just as well I did not go there tonight - thanks to RTV.
Which is another point - why was this a Friday game had it been a Saturday I would have gone.

You'll do no such thing! You're still on a run with no losses as far as I know. Get the Lichties game up "toot sweet".
I, and others, have faith in your efforts.👍
Thank you in advance 😊

Friday game because I heard that it was to give folks more time for Christmas and maybe also Ayr requested for players to get away south for the holiday break to which we agreed with.
Others may know differently.

So much I could be negative about but I choose to be positive and congratulate Lewis Vaughan on a well taken second senior career hat- trick ! That first was a terrific header!
Leading goalscorer in the Championship ( league goals). Sam Stanton has 6 assists on top of his goals. Hope his injury isn't bad.

Trying to put things in perspective.
Aston Villa should have been odds on favourites at home v Sheffield United to get the three points tonight. United scored with three minutes to go. Villa get a 96 minutes equaliser and fail to go top.
Fitba' don't you just love it?!🥹

Positives. We again kept going to the end and managed to create several chances over and above the four that we scored from.
Vaughan yet again proving he is the best forward in the division and pound for pound our best player.
Another plus point had nothing to do with us but thankfully Utd didn't gain any ground.
Now for the negatives and this will be longer than its opposite.
Stanton injury. Assume it's a bad one but hoping against hope it won't be. If it is that's could be a hammer blow to our title hopes.
Despite scoring four that is the flattest I have seen us perform. Some of our players looked like they were running on empty even before halftime. Byrne had his worst game for us and it looked like he was targeted by Ayr as perhaps being someone who would be susceptible to a press and he was. Maybe just a off day from him as he's been top class in almost every other game for us.
Dick and Millen. Both of them were absolutely destroyed by Chalmers and Amartey. When Ian Murray was fantasising a couple of weeks back about having a winger with electric pace he must have been thinking about guys like those. I mean they should have been fouled further up the pitch before they had a chance to damage us but still they were stunning at times tonight.
I said earlier in this thread that I was hoping for a clean sheet and we failed in that regard in spectacular fashion. League campaigns often have a team that are highly entertaining and score plenty of goals but they often don't end up being champions. Clean sheets and a tight defence are the hallmarks of champions more so than last gasp goals. With Stanton being out I think we need to push Brown into the middle and replace him at the back with O' Reilly who I thought has done well in the games he has featured in.
Second time now this season at Starks where, against ten men, we have thrown away a lead and then went behind. We need to be more game savvy and learn how to tailor our performance to see out a game. That might be boring but that's how winning titles is done.

P.S did the 50/50 get won tonight? I mean I know it would have been but did someone claim it as I missed the numbers being announced.

The club, the team and coaching staff have been absolutely fantastic this season and 3600 people on the Friday before Christmas is a stunning turn out.

Yes the team were off it, yes we can be critical of individual errors last night all over the park. But you know what we still found a way to pull out a draw and match Dundee Uniteds result. They must be bealing.

I personally thought Ayr were excellent and had their tactics spot on. I didn't care much for the two reckless tackles on Easton, the second of which got the deserved red card. But barring that the high press prevented us from settling on the ball and passing through them. They also broke with ferocious pace at times for which we had no answer.

I think we were lucky to get the point but .... the harder we work, the more we strive for a result right to the end ..... the luckier we get.

Noticeable was that with both the penalty equaliser and the fourth goal equaliser, there wasn't much celebration from the players. Just an urge to try and get another goal. Both times ball grabbed out of the net and hurriedly placed back on the centre spot. Just a tremendous desire to try to get a victory despite things not being the best on the night.👏👏👏

I honestly didn't know whether to laugh or cry at full time last night.
Great character to come from behind three times in a game where almost everyone had an off night, but worrying that we were so comprehensively outplayed by ten men.
I'm almost at the stage now where I'd rather we went in level at halftime rather than ahead. When we're level, like last Saturday, we seem to start the second half more focused, whereas whenever we're ahead, and the other team will have had a rocketing, we can't seem to switch on and immediately lose impetus.

We're top of the league and there to be got at, every team from here on in will up their game against us, Ayr probably wont play like that most likely till we meet again, a lot if our player had an off night but it says a lot about their character and determination to not get beaten
