Our greatest day

My greatest Rovers moment, so many very happy moments.

The day was amazing, every minute of the way.

Remember my father coming away from the game saying he’d have been safer among the Celtic fans! All the back slapping! That said, his hands were black and blue next morning from all the clapping! Very Happy

Not sure how it survived the day/night but I’ve still got my slightly worse for wear ticket!

I've still got two programmes lurking in the depths of a cupboard somewhere in the house. One slightly creased from looking at it on the day and thereafter. The other? Pristine. Only ever opened slightly once to avoid any creasing or similar blemishes.
Lots of memories from the day but one was when I was delighted to bump into the late Bobby Reid in the Valente chip shop on the High Street. He wasn't long back from taking another past hero, Willie Polland, home to West Lothian from the game. According to Bobby the tears were running down Willie's face as soon as the penalty was saved and didn't stop for quite a bit!. 🥹

Sitting in the upper deck as far away as possible from the penalties being taken. Right in line for Crawfords opener. The euphoria of Dazza’s equaliser. Hugging someone random with sheer delight after that save. The bus journey back to the Dunearn Roadhouse. Going down the high street and seeing fans sitting in the middle of the road as pubs ran out of beer. Great memories

Still have my program also, plus the spread from the FFP. My brother was working for the bus company at the time and took us back via East End park tooting his horn Laughing

Our bus driver on the day from Kirkcaldy bus station ( bus number 1) was often the team's bus driver in the preceding years. Andy Blair was his name. A Rovers diehard.
His horn never stopped blaring all the way along Halbeath Road and he slowed down to crawl past East End Park just to make sure they knew we were passing by!😀
Memories memories keep flooding back.

I used to bump into Andy down the park until a few years ago, he drove the supporters bus on a few occaisions too, but mostly Fife Scottish used him on the long haul routes.
He drove Hutchison's workers down to Ipswich for our annual knees up and also drove the Kirkcaldy London bus for a while. Great guy and a Rovers fan too.
