Don't think it's a case of relying on Vaughan for promotion, more a case of being seriously handicapped if he is sold.

For me, we are favourites to win the division as it stands. If we lost Vaughan tomorrow, I would be leaning towards Ayr Utd, not because we are a one man team but because like any side in world football, if you lose your best player, you are weakened on the whole.

you may well be correct but that cannot be answered until or if he goes. as i said i want him to stay, but its more than probable he will move on sooner than later which is why i said he is a liability purely because the fans rely on him too much and i can see that rubbing off onto other players.

and neill, yes he is one of our best players, but reading between the lines and with a dundee player training with us, a attacking midfielder suggests to me their may just be a cash plus player deal in the wind. so its important we adapt now and before or if he moves on.

Who's training with us from Dundee? Can we afford a Championship/Premiership players wage?

I think you're on about Herron (ex Dunfermline) who is/was training with us and it was mentioned he left Dunfermline as they couldn't afford him.

Unlike most on here it seems, I don't look solely at the goals we will lose if he goes, more so the service he will provide to others. He is the perfect player to sit slightly deeper and provide that bit of imagination and guile between the midfield and strikers. To have a quality player who can play up top, in the hole behind or even out wide if required is a god send when our squad is 11 or 12 players plus the development squad...

After last season, our board owe us the decision which gives us best chance of getting back where we were and unless the money is pretty crazy, that would be Vaughan staying put, end of.

anything less than 6 figures and its a sell out. in my book, with one year to go on his contract, the lad is worth at least 150k minimum. i agree with what yoy say but was it not barr who laid on all three goals last night, which enhances my point. hes a great asset but not irreplaceable. no team can afford to rely on just one player, and thats how it seems on here. to many fans relying on lv.

6 figures for a league one player!! you are living up to your user name

The Huns charged Brentford 800 grand for Lewis Macleod and I don't think he had as much 2nd tier experience as Vaughan.

specky what many on here are saying is LV is not as good as they say if he is not now worth a decent 6 figure sum, which in my opinion he is and at least the figure i stated.

But also many have said we cannot win the league this year without him, so they are basically saying the rest of the squad are not good enough for promotion. What a condemnation of our players, and they call themselves supporters.

With or without LV we are good enough to roar back to the championship and those doubters had better start to believe it.

John Herron will not be signing he played as trialist for Ross County the other night and is looking to move on and up from Dunfermline not down.

A double blow for CE's theory.

Not only is he not a Dundee player, he's also not signing for us.

just as long as he doesn't go for a pittance, if someone does come in for him.

but we do need to get money from somewhere to bolster the squad at some point during the season and selling one of our two assets may just be the only way unfortunately

Yes LV is a huge asset at this point in time, but he is also a liability to the teams developement.

That's some logic. Are you really saying that we should punt all of our better players so that we can replace them with players of a lesser ability and develop them to the standard of the players we've just punted?
