Eric came across very professionally and we were shafted by the spfl board. No doubt about that. Biggest problem still remains scoring goals, but we had to commit more players to protecting our goalie than would otherwise have been the case. Like Eric said, St Mirren won't have been happy either with the game going ahead in these circumstances. If we can't get a Celtic goalie on loan, how about one of their strikers instead Very Happy

I'm sorry but the CLUB have been since 4th of February with only one fit goalkeeper and elected to do he haw about it. I'm sorry but kudos to the spfl for forcing this game to be played. The biggest embarrassment is the Chairman who knew of the above situation and did little to force the then manager to rectify it. Then to come onto national radio looking for sympathy.

Exactly.Even though the authorities have shown a precedence by allowing games to be cancelled for similar we have had weeks to bring in a back up keeper not just a few days

If only he could bring his comedic talent to getting his charges turned into a goal scoring machine.

What at an absolute shambles. Yogi not only do you come across as being unintelligent your actions also back it up. In your own words you said “we were brilliant against Hibs for the first hour”, so you change over 25% of the team in one swoop to try and be clever and it backfires, then you go to the next game change the starting 11 (Davo must give one hellavu BJ or he has some really incriminating photos of Eric, otherwise why would you play such a dud) and we are absolute gash, then we move to a system of 5 at the back to protect a rookie goalie when common sense would tell you to play 5 in the middle to TRY and keep play away from the goals instead of inviting pressure. Last night you can go on about effort and commitment but you are picking guys that are and have been for sometime awful. The faces of the subs warming up and the shaking of their heads when Davo couldn’t even control a ball when nobody was within 10 yards of him and he still managed to kick it out of play summed everything up – the guy is an absolute liability. Not a single outfield player got pass marks last night, nobody even was bothered to put a foot in and try and make it a battle, just turned up and mugged us all off. We could have had Gordon Banks in goal and we still would have lost – JOKE. And one last thing Yogi, yes next year we will probably be in Division One, but this year we are in the Championship and that is 2 interviews in a row you have talked about us playing in Division One, what do you think the players and fans think when you don’t even know what league we play in, coming across as if you are too good for it. JOKE- get yourself sorted and do the basics right.

I'm assuming he'll get a fine now for that statement, and maybe a ban so we have to do without a manager for a few games Smile

Well having heard all the evidence/excuses (delete as appropriate Wink) and I'm still of the opinion we are more at blame than the powers that be.

Seems to me Hearts pulled a flanker on the governing bodies a season ago and they are determined not to be seen to have the wool pulled over their eyes again. Where I do have some sympathy for the board is in the rules dictating who we can sign and who we can't, surely there should be some relaxation of the rules when it comes to such a specialist position? Whats the betting that is one of the things that gets addressed at the seasons end?

Sorry though but in my opinion the BoD are not off the hook on this one by a long chalk.

We have known since 9th Jan when Lennox was maimed at St Andrews that we were treading a fine line. Surely a prudent move would have been to sign an old pro, amateur or a junior in that transfer window just in case the unthinkable happened. I mean when you look at our track record on injuries it's not as is we are the luckiest club in football is it?

So come the 4th of Feb and the ducks are all in single file and nicely lined up. Boom! Out goes the cat with a hernia (usually there's a bit of warning with theses things, no?) and we are instantly but one sprained wrist, broken finger or twisted ankle from disaster. Do we act? Nope!

Last nights defeat is not the fault of Ryan Stevenson, he if anything looked more assured that Brennan did at QotS.

I could blame the coaching for losing yet another set piece goal, why don't we put people on the posts anymore?
I could blame the defence for sleeping and not challenging at the set piece.
I could blame the midfield for yet again (just like at Dumfries) being utterly rank.

I could blame Lock and Jackson for not having a signed up development keeper , not signing any decent central midfielders (just 1 to accompany Matthews and Callachan would help them immensely), I could also blame them for not signing any big strikers, after all how can you practice set pieces in training when the biggest guys in the team are all defenders??
I could also blame GL & DJ for transforming a fairly competent 4th place side into an embarrassing farce or an outfit, but I don't.

I blame our board of Directors (a few of who'm I would terms old friends) who have presided over this embarrassing collapse.
All of the above described mistakes have happened during their tenure.
There's no point crying woe is us, nor decrying the fans for being unhappy and failing to turn out, I'm not looking for nor expecting heads to roll or a sacrificial lamb to be offered just for them stand up acknowledge the mistakes made and get it sorted.

I know we are all in this together and I know we are all hurting but in the last 4 days I have travelled over 400 miles and spent a small fortune following the team I love and all for nothing! I am left feeling utterly wretched and for the 1st time this season without hope.

This is a total circus. Regardless of who or what is to blame here, we are looking like an absolute embarrassment and totally amateur.

Thought Jason Thomson was back to his best last night.
The team didn't collapse after losing a goal, and Hughes was positive in his changes.

There's a lot of doom and gloom about, but there were positives last night, let's not jump in the harbour just yet

I can't see the spfa letting Hughes away with his comments & a fine will be on the cards & possibly a van, who's going to pay the fine, us Raith, were strapped for cash as it is.

I'm sick of hearing about lack of confidence, commitment & effort, we had plenty of that in the 2x Hearts games including goals & also again vs Hibs.

We can't have that many strikers who can't hit the target, there's no need to try & score from 30yrd, just get it on target as the Gk may spill it & we can pick up anything loose.

Yogi should give a Court & Osei a chance now, we've tried different tactics & formation & the only player who had scored a goal in recent weeks was in goals....

Can you just imagine the pellets that Locke would have got if still in charge?

Regardless that this is a Yogis 3rd game now, he's worked with the players got his ideas across & changed personnel & tactics 3x times & it's just not working.

The whole squad need to take a good look at themselves even the staff & lets go again but let's ditch davo & Callachan in midfield & bring in R. Mathews with a potential 4,5,1 or 4,3,3 when attacking, we need with so no point in the wingers getting dragged in narrow, they need to stay out wide & even hold a high line instead of being back deep in our own half & then needing to run 70-80yrs to join the attack...

I'll agree about Thomson and no there was no collapse G but the lack of a midfield and cutting edge/little luck up front proved (as at Dumfries) damning.

Until the midfield gets it's self sorted out and starts playing the ball on the deck through to guys like McManus and Hardie then we will continue to suffer. All too often last night the ball was getting hooked blindly forward. On the relatively few occasions we got the ball down and played it on the deck we were causing Ayr all sorts of problems.

Spot on. Still 30 points to play for.

Sign a goalkeeper. Get back to playing 4-4-2 with Coustrain and Barr starting. And play two strikers that have worked well in the past together: Hardie and Stewart.

Nobody is covering themselves in glory at the moment. We need the players to step up to the mark and show why they deserve to be playing at this level. We need the fans to get behind the team.

There's no point in sitting here moaning. We only lost by a goal last night and had plenty of chances. We need to develop a siege mentality. Nobody is going to have a jot of sympathy for us after last night.

I though Chris Johnston was by far and away our best midfielder last night, Coulstrain looked lively at first but as a threat was quickly snubbed out. Bobby Barr isn't on form and the other two midfielders have been discussed already.

I'd opt for a midfield of Johnston, C. Barr, Matthews and Coulstrain. Rest the other guys and hope for a bluidy miracle.

Agree re Johnston having a good game, and thought Coustrain was put on to ensure Devlin didn't get as far forward, which worked.

Scotty, I thought you were wanting M'Voto dropped and a centre half pairing of Barr and Bene?

I do, but it's prioritising the need. I'm now starting to think that we are more in need to make the midfield stronger. As fragile as the defence looks the centre of midfield looks worse IMO. Perhaps a stronger midfield could keep the defence from getting into trouble and by having Barr as a CDM we could utilise his height at defending set pieces.

Ideally we need a stronger spine throughout the team, but unfortunately we need it right now and we can only shuffle the pack with what we have.

My sympathies to the board and Eric are limited without knowing the background to what has been done by the club since Saturday to get a keeper in. As I have said previously, this is a low point in the clubs history, which could end up defining the future path of the club if we go down. That's how serious this farce is. I'm not buying the club statement or Hughes's comments in the media. The blame for this lies with the club. Very poor planning, and we are almost using it as an excuse to deflect away from another defeat. The St Mirren game is now a huge one. We need to find a win to save our season.
