Do you still regularly attend away games? You know, I don't mean the one trip a season to Cowdungbeef or the Pars. I mean away days to QoS, Accies, Livi, and the rest on a regular basis. Say, 9 away games or more a season.

I'm thinking of heading through to Hamilton for the Accies game on 19th October, seen as we're battling it out at the top of the league at the moment.

Now, my away days have been seriously limited as I now have kids. It's been a really poor showing from me in recent years, with at most 1 or 2 away games a season. But truth be told, I haven't been to more than 3 or 4 away games in a season for umpteen years. The last time I can remember travelling regularly was the 95/96 season; I recall coming back from Munich to see us get humped 5-1 at Rugby Park. Looking back, maybe going to Munich was the turning point! Domestic away games could never compare after that.

Going by the away crowds, I'm pretty sure i'm in the majority in not attending many away games.

Did you used to attend away games on a regular basis? What stopped you going?

Simple for me.

Went to around 90% home games and probably around 70% away games over the last 10/15 years up until last season.

Have a young family, better half now works most Saturdays so I'm daddy day care, can usually get a baby sitter for couple of hours if we at home but away days are well limited which is crap cause the away days are more enjoyable on the whole in my opinion.

Our travelling support is still pretty decent when you compare it to the numbers in the North stand most weekends these days

My away games in recent years:

2013/2014: zero so far, but Accies game could be my first.
2012/2013: 1 game. A 1-1 draw at Cowdenbeath on 23rd February 2013.
2011/2012: 1 game. A 1-1 draw at Dundee on 24th March 2012.
2010/2011: 3 games. A 3-2 defeat at Aberdeen in the League Cup; a 2-2 draw and that 2-1 defeat at East End Park.
2009/2010: 4 games. Dunfermline 3-1 defeat in the League Cup and 2-0 win in the League with Murray and Casa scoring; 1-0 win in the replay over Aberdeen; 2-0 defeat to Dundee United at Hampden.
2008/2009: 2 games. A 2-2 draw at Ayr and a 1-0 win at Stirling.
2007/2008: 1 game. I was living in London for the whole season. 2-2 draw at Airdrie in the unsuccessful end of season play-off.
2006/2007: 1 game. 2-1 win at Cowdenbeath.
2005/2006: 4 games. 1-0 win at Peterhead in September, and a 2-0 defeat at Morton on Boxing Day, in the League. 2-0 defeat at Queens Park in the Scottish Cup. 5-1 defeat in the diddy cup QF at Perth.
2004/2005: 0 games. The Anelka season. Nufff said. It was all I could do to attend home games.
2003/2004. 0 games. Living in London.
2002/2003. 1 game. Living in London. A 1-0 win away at St Johnstone in September 2003.

A grand total of 18 games in 10 years.

Still try to make it to most away games. Ironically, most away games are closer than a 'home' game for me. I can get to Dumfries just about as quickly as I can get to SP. Shocked

Morton, Hamilton, Dumbarton, Falkirk, Alloa, Livvy are all closer - even Cowdenbeath are quicker to get to. The only one that really takes longer is Dundee.

Mind you - I'm hardly representative of your average travelling fan.

I rarely attend any game outside Fife these days. The standard of the first division is so poor these days that it's impossible to justify the time and cost involved in attending away games.

Obviously distance plays the largest factor in away attendances. You only tend to get large away crowds in distant games if the teams playing well or in an important game towards the end of the season.

Due to work commitments I go to any games I can wheather its home or away .

I absolutely love the away day experience, jumping on the bus and traveling to games is great fun . The away support seems to be more passionate about supporting the team which in turn creates a better/more fun atmosphere than starks park .

In terms of cost its only the price of a bus journey , some stadiums cost a little less to get into . Its also good to see how other teams operate in terms of half time entertainment or no entertainment at all in some cases .

The majority of away clubs are good to go to with the exception of Morton which other fans will let you know what that is like . Dundee charge a hefty £20 to go to there beautiful stadium which has lovely heated , padded seats with panoramic views of the pitch Rolling Eyes

I havent been away yet this season but look forwad to getting there soon . Raith as a team play different away from home and its always good to see the other side of things . Smile

used to travel to every away game including Stranraer, QOS, Ayr etc. Only 4 grounds in Scotland I haven't seen Rovers play at but now I live near Peterhead and work every second Saturday I very rarely get to any games now

Used to travel to most away games back in my younger years but rarely will I travel outwith Fife to watch us play these days. I went to the 4-3 game against Cowden this season but prior to that I can't remember the last time I went to see us play Cowden. Dunfermline away is usually a must for me but that's about it.

During our 2nd Division days I used to love the spontaneous decision with my mates to head to an away game. There were usually a good 4 or 5 of us that would go and it was a decent excuse to go out, get bladdered and make a day of it. During our last 2nd Division title winning season it was fantastic. We were winning regularly and we'd usually take over most towns. Our suppport back then was much more boisterous and vocal. Fifes Finest seemed to be at their peak and the atmosphere was usually always good. It didn't matter where we were playing, I knew I could rely on us (me and my group of friends) to head to places like Stranraer, Ayr, Peterhead and we had some cracking days out.

Times have changed though. My decision to give away days a miss isn't anything to do with the standard of football on show or even the cost. At a push I probably could afford to head to most away games but couldn't justify going doolally with a day on the lash.

I've got a 19 month old wee boy who is priority number 1. I work Monday to Friday and my Mrs is a stay at home Mum. It's not fair on her for me to be out gallivanting every Saturday. I still manage all home games and to be honest that does me fine.

I am similar to Kirky in that only Dundee is further away than Starks for me , Morton, Dumbarton are relatively on my doorstep and I normally go to those games only very occasionaly do I go to other grounds these days , but I dare say like many I have over the years seen the Rovers play at most grounds in Scotland.

Still go to all games h&a when onshore. Missed tbe Dumbarton game due to being on holiday this week with my family. Back on Sat just in time for the Annan game on Sun.

Dont go to football much at all, maybe 5 or 6 games person at best, however if i do go an see raith it will be at san starko, would rather give raith my money

In the past, was a regular visitor to away grounds, the best season was when we won Division 2, closely followed by our first season in Division 1. Nowadays, I tend to stick to local games, Cowdenbeath excepted, as they really should be paying supporters to get into that dump.

This season, I will go to some away games, in my role as updater, since I get a media pass, which was the only reason I went to Cappielow recently. I'll go to stadiums like Falkirk, QoS, Alloa and Livi, other commitments notwithstanding. Still haven't been to the Betty Butler Stadium due to various issues Rolling Eyes
