Otherwise, the ref yesterday seemed pretty competent - although with a yellow card count of nine, you mightn't have thought so.
I reckon each one of Hamilton's six got their money's worth, as each was for a clear (and in many cases deliberate) foul to gain advantage.
On the other hand, for our lot, only Spencer got the value from his. Matthews got his for intent - sliding in, but then withdrawing (or missing the man). And Varian's was daft and an over-reaction from the ref. OK, he knocked the ball out of an opponent's hands, but time-wasting at 3-0 up in the 87th minute? Come on! We weren't going to lose a bunch of late goals, were we? Wink

Pretty much agree with Standrew.
Pretty much all the bookings were merited and the referee yesterday wasn't even close to the worst we've had this season.
Even in the last month, McLean v Arbroath and especially Steven against Inverness, were poor by comparison.

A very good looking pick for us. Mr. Kirkland has called 6 competative centers, with a record of 4-2-0. Ar Stark's Park, we are 3-1-0 with Steven in the middle.

Kirkland is generally seen calling League One, but has a few Cup matches. 3 yellows a game, a 25% chance of a second yellow, no reds and a penalty every other match.

A lovely pair of laddies...not!

Nick Walsh, top level Scottish ref, with a penchant for reds much above average. 4.2 yellows a game, nearly a red every other game, and a penalty every three matches. Terrible history, 3-2-3 overall, WLWWLDLD run, and 1-1-1 away record. Even worse, we've played Falkirk twice with Nick calling the match, and lost both! We're DOOOMMMMMMED.

Barry Cook, a much longer history. 7-5-5 overall...3-1-4 away, unfortunately. Trend of last ten is DWLDWLWDWL. Mid-level ref with less than 4 yellows a match, very rare reds and less than 25% of his matches feature a penalty.

Not as "dooommmed" as was expected from your stats but you called the red card bit correct TX 👍🥺

After Tumilty got an early yellow he made the decision for the referee regarding the second, the ref's hands were tied by this time.

Absolutely spot on WJ but it just adds to the bare facts that TX trawled up on this particular referee regarding red cards, and what your good self pointed out regarding the number of reds since the late 90's that this fixture has generated.

Not encouraging...Napier has run 8 centers, with total results of 2-2-4. Away he's 1-0-3, his form is WDDLLLWL. His last match was our loss to QoS.

Three yellows a match and few penalties or reds.

SPFL must be treating this one as a 'big game" with dumping the Gollum onto this fixture ☹️

There are only 4 games on in the SPL on Saturday and even using refs as fourth officials, there are still too many of them. Rather Collum than Lloyd Wilson or Nick Walsh

Thanks GP.
That explains the reason why we've got him. I agree with you regarding Walsh but can't say I'm au fait with Wilson. Not a name that resonates with me.
But hey ho! It is what it is.
