I think the Decembeard fundraiser that we are one week in to is a decent indicator of the apathy that can surround fund raising ventures.
There hasn't been a lot of interest whatsoever in a fundraiser that is splitting proceeds between RRFC and Victoria Hospice by simply growing a beard for a month. I understand that folk may have certain barriers like work policies etc but there is a potential to earn the club thousands with enough people taking part.

I suppose you need to try out new stuff to see what will take off. I'll still be up for doing it next year as any money going to the Rovers and the Hospice is good money.

Think some of the fans on the fund raising committee got disillusioned by some of the negativity generated by the "done that, seen that, it failed" fans, so guys left. A few got on with projects they thought could survive.

Perhaps Vinnie this current classic top hasn't been a success as much as we would have liked it to be and you suggest we have made no contributions to the club - yet. But what we have done is start with no cash, received funding paid the funder back and made some profit to put to the next classic top. Received some more funding and along with the profit put it to the third classic top. We paid the funder back and IF we sold the all the 1970s classic tops we would have self funded the fourth classic top. From this I'm sure we would have paid for the fifth classic top from the profits AND then started donating the profits from that sale.

We only purchase 40 classic tops, unfortunately we only sold 20 of the 1970s tops so far.

However, this project shows I hope that you can start a venture from scratch.

Andy C, perhaps the Decembeard came to close on the back of fund raising during the similar Movember campaign.

Perhaps its too much for fans during an already expensive Christmas period.

I think this fundraising group would work but it needs everyone pulling in the right direction plus it could be tied into community stuff aswell.I dont see what the problem is to do this because if we want the club to survive we need funding from other resources other than through the turnstiles.How many folk have said they are going to do something and actually go and do it ? What and how do those on the fans forum raise money is it seperately or do they work together ? The three hairy faces ME,RENTON and GRUBBY from my lot have so far raised over £200 in the last week with more to come in so it can be done to help the club.

All I'm saying is that I'd rather see people raising money than forming a group to talk about raising money. Good on you guys for doing the Decembeard thing, I'd have joined you if I didn't have one already!

Talking of apathy - what exactly are the club doing to generate income other than chumping their gums in the press about cash flow?

The selling of tickets for the Pars game could easily have been enough to tide over a few weeks and was mooted on this site some time ago. Its a lost opportunity now even if they do go ahead but is one example where some pro active initiative from within the club could have had a massive benefit. I mean the recent cold snap was predicted all over the news for at least a week before hand and this really is not a shock.

There are alot of fans on here who wear their hearts on their sleeve and gentlemen my hat is off to you because I just could not be doing with the hassle of fund raising etc. I'm happy to donate / support etc but actually getting involved and doing something is not all that appealling. I'm sure many (most) fans come into this category.

The chap that did the XMAS card thing did a fantastic job - imagine how much more income could have been generated if the club had someone with this initiative internally and maybe even supported such a venture themselves whereby it could have been orders of magnitude greater.

I contacted John Drysdale a few years ago and managed to get all the unsold progammes, to sell on ebay.

Managed to raise a few hundred, I would assume there are a few years worth of programmes there again.

Agreed ... but what a lost opportunity after the game at EEP.

In the post match euphoria tickets would have been lapped up.

Not now..... as XMAS approaches higher priorities abound.
