Three best players - Sneijder, Villa and Ozil, with Forlan worth a shout.
For me, its Ozil, he's been a breath of fresh air, and he probably wouldn't have got a game if Ballack had been there (Germany would have lost against England as they would have had to slow down to Ballack's level!)
Should add that Schweinsteiger really blossomed and looked as if he was glad to be able to do what he wanted without Ballack there. Can't see Ballack getting back into the team, after the 'reported bust-up' with Lahm over the captaincy issue.
For me, the best emerging team was Germany. The best overall team are the 2 in the final, Spain and Holland. _________________ A proud member of the 45. Saor Alba. |

Wayne Rooney.
Don't think you can put so many Germans in. Remember, there are only about 2 of them good enough to play for England. Apparently. _________________ No no no no ma wee laddie. |

Forlan for me
Scored goals, seems to be the only one who can take a free kick with that ball (apart from the Japanese in one game) and has played with a smile on his face as his team achieved more than expected. |

I have of course missed the OTHER box lol! Mabe the mods could add it in!
Germany were prob the best team in the tournament, which is why ive got 3 of their players in. Mueller scoring 5, Ozil was outstanding - his chip in for the forth against Argies was sublime, an Schweinstieger is prob the ost improved player ive sen this year!
Wouldnt say anyone tonight has pushed themselves any further ahead of anyone else, although as i type that was a cracking strike by Iniesta, so for me, it would be one or two of the germans, with Sneijder as my top 3
additionaly, unless Sneijder scores in the last 2 mins, 20 year old Mueller from the "inexperienced Germans" will win the Golden boot, as 4 of them finish level on 5, but he has most assists! |

If Sneijder had contibuted towards a Holland victory in Final, would of said him.
As it is, think it is close between Villa and Iniesta. Villa was class in 4 or 5 of the games, scoring vital goals too. Iniesta was his usual self in every game, for such a small, lightweight guy, he makes playing football look so easy, great wee player and just edges it for me after that goal
Forlan inspired Uraguay along with German Muller who only had one or two caps before it started worth a wee mention too |

If anyone didnt watch the post match show on BBC1, they announced Diego Forlan won the Player of the Tournament.
Mueller won the golden boot, on assists which is used as a tie breaker |
