The draw for next season's league cup is tomorrow. It will be a group as has been in recent years but it will no longer be dependent on teams geographical location.
Looks as though there will be 8 groups with 5 teams in each. Last seasons league positions determine which pot you are in. We are in pot 2, along with most of last season's championship teams including the pars.
Would not be shocked one little bit if we get Falkirk in our group!!!!!! |

DATE CONFIRMED FOR GROUP STAGE DRAW
The SPFL has today announced that the draw for the group stage of the 2022/23 Premier Sports Cup will be made on Wednesday May 25 at 1.00pm.
It will be shown live by Premier Sports via their FreeSports channel. FreeSports is available on Freeview HD channel 65, Sky HD channel 422, Virgin HD 553, TalkTalk 64, BT Vision channel 64 and is also available via Samsung TV Player and on the FreeSports Player — www.freesportsplayer.tv
With five SPFL clubs again taking part in UEFA competitions next season, the Premier Sports Cup group stage draw will involve the other 37 SPFL clubs from 2021/22 plus Highland League champions Fraserburgh and Lowland League champions Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic.
The additional slot will be taken by Highland League runners-up Buckie Thistle, following a decision by the SPFL Board, as the Lowland League were given the extra place last season.
The 40 clubs will be drawn into eight groups of five on a seeded basis. Details of the seeding pots will be confirmed ahead of the draw.
Following a recommendation from the SPFL Competitions Working Group, regionalisation has been removed for 2022/23 after six years of the North/South split in the group stage.
The eight group winners and three best runners-up will join the five European entrants in the last 16 of the tournament at the end of August.
Due to changes to the calendar caused by the winter World Cup in Qatar, the Premier Sports Cup semi-finals will take place in January and the final is scheduled for Sunday February 26.

Hibs, Falkirk, East Fife and Cowdenbeath would probably be the best from a financial point of view provided we get either Hibs or Falkirk at home. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Group a with Aberdeen Peterhead Dumbarton and Stirling Aberdeen most likely to win the group but its not unrealistic to be a top runner up _________________ Murray |

Odds we're away to Aberdeen and Dumbarton. Home to the wee teams on midweek evenings so poor crowds |

Heard some mention that the club from the top group always host the club from the second group so you'll probably be right GP. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

Takings 50/50? If so does it matter where we play Aberdeen? Maybe better at Pittodrie? _________________ Here Wee go again |

Not sure if it is with this cup, if it was a one-off tie, yes, but as its a group with each team getting two games home and away, its probably not. |

Very good group in terms of qualifying, obviously there were weaker top seeds but the rest all very winnable |

I'm pretty sure it is a shared gate, hence the reason clubs don't offer League Cup games on a season ticket.
There's also a chance Premier Sports might cover it due to Aberdeen and Hibs being the biggest draws in the group stage and after what happened last season. _________________ Dougie Hill
