Thankfully it would need a 8-2 majority from Championship clubs and 11-1 majority from Premiership clubs to pass, therefore you would hope that would scupper it.

They do this in Europe quite successfully and it helps to bring young players on rather than playing youth or reserve matches which are pretty meaningless, they cannot, however, be promoted.
So assuming the no promotion clause is in place, the only thing I find disturbing about it is the pathetic sums of money being mentioned, it shows a total lack of respect for the lower leagues. Okay, £1 million would be life changing for any of us but it wont make much odds shared around the lower league sides in dribs and drabs as they suggest.
I say let them play in leagues 1 & 2 but no promotion beyond that and it costs £1 million per club, per season, which must be paid prior to the fixture lists being produced. Expand leagues 1&2 to accommodate that, but that would be it.
I can see the developmental positives from it, not only for the ugly sisters but also for the lads coming up against them and also managers and coaches who can also learn from experiences like this.
One place I think it would fall down is that it would have to be done with a level of humility, the lower leagues helping (hopefully) young Scottish talent develop more positively, rather than the OF thinking they are great by putting cash their way.

I don’t mind it so much if they stay in the bottom tier. Last time there was talk of them getting all the way to the Championship. Once they become an issue with promotion/playoffs at this level then it becomes a big no no.

Because under my plan they will have to commit to £1 million, pre season, preferably for a minimum of 3 seasons. Agree Aberdeen could be in there and out with Grannies gorgie grumpies, I doubt many clubs could commit to that. My point was, aye fine, we can reconstruct the leagues but, you are going to pay the lower league sides to accommodate you.
StarksBarmy - agreed, I think the lower leagues would benefit, but nothing above L1.

Look at it this way, we all thought McGlynn was a good manager first time round, but you can't tell me his time at Celtic has not made him a better manager by being exposed to other experienced coaches, watching a wide variety of teams and working in a more advanced culture and with new systems.

Outside of the OF nobody really likes them, most of their managerial appointments are based on antagonising the other side as much as anything and their inability to escape the past is their greatest weakness. But lets give the lower leagues their money, we just escapes ourselves and know how damned hard it was, if we can get a really good deal for the lower leagues then why not take their money, I'm damned sure they are due the rest of Scottish football after all the crap we have had to put up with these many decades.

Unfortunately the SPFL will probably succumb like lambs to the slaughter and the deal will be worth 2/6d, pay ye next week.

Not sure why you quoted me as my response was to their proposal and not your plan which is a no goer

OF have enough say/ influence in Scottish Football as it is without their colts teams being shoehorned into the lower league and wherever it will lead long term from there?Pretty sure they wouldn,t accept their colt teams bouncing about the lower tier of Scottish Football long term

Lets not be kidded that they are proposing this for the betterment of Scottish Football, two teams who if they had the chance would be offski to the English league,Atlantic league or whatever league that would have them

Personally would be happy to see them go to any of the listed asap

Anyway, very little meat on the bones on this proposal so it,ll be interesting to see it in its intiriety

What should be a reasonably positive development carries so many negatives because of the two parties concerned. They seem to think they can throw pennies to the rest of Scottish football and they’re doing it a good turn, whether it’s transfers or anything else. They belatedly invest reasonable amounts in their women’s teams, completely undermining and ignoring the pioneering existing Glasgow Women’s team with no club affiliation. They will continue their patterns of the senior teams and buy up any up and coming youngster who plays well against them, weakening the opposition teams and keeping half of them on the bench or in the stands. I cannot see how it can work successfully without the sectarianism, and anti OF feelings that abound. The only thing I can see being reasonably successful is a serious open look at a reserve league allowing all fringe players as well as youngster and those returning from injury etc an opportunity to play more regularly. Look at our own squad - some of them have not taken part in a meaningful game for weeks!
