Facing a year out due to the injury sustained in the Livi game and giving the club both barrels in The Sun today claiming Rovers are refusing to pay for his treatment and re-hab.
Also claiming he's facing a hefty legal bill due to his lawyer negotiating with the club over this and that PFA Scotland have dismissed his claim.
The spin on the story doesn't reflect well on the club, but you've got to assume Rovers have looked at their legal obligations in this and acted accordingly.
I honestly thought that players would have an injury insurance policy provided by their union, but it would appear not.

For the last two seasons he's hardly kicked a ball due to either being injured or suspended or generally crap and has collected a wage for doing practically he haw. And now he wants more money from the club after being released. Welcome to the real world of the nhs and the real world of having to do something to earn a wage rather than sitting in the stands!!

Laugh at the bit about moaning like hell then says 'but I'm not bitter"

It is a tough one that probably reflects badly on the club. If I got injured at work a few days or weeks before my contract expired, I would still expect to be compensated. The club perhaps has a moral if not a legal obligation to support Elliot through his operation and rehabilitation.

Must be more to this story, especially if the PFA have refused to back him.

Its up to him and his overpaid agent to check his contract before he signs it!

He was out of contract anyway.

Perhaps he is looking at Davie's situation last year, he was injured in October and out of contract last May. Altho we signed Kevin Cuthbert, Davie was given an extension even though there was no guarantee he would be back, which looked as if it was for loyalty reasons given his service in the preceding five years.

He might be mumping on the basis of that, but there should be insurance cover involved and in any case Elliot hasn't even done 10% of what Davie has given to our Club.

IIRC the board had to write off the money paid for Mark Campbell's rehabilitation, I'm not sure of the reason.

When I was involved in Amatuer football we had our players insured it was only for a certain amount per week and payed out over a certain length of time. The amount payed to a player was decided apon the amount of premium that you payed. I know it will be different for senior teams as the amount of money and treatment required vary.
We used to bring our players to Starks for physio with Bob Methven and old Jimmy Joyce was there as well happy, happy days.

Top fixture of the day would be Ark Athletic v Methuselah Miners by the reading of that! Wink

Piece on STV News just there including an interview with him, statement from Rovers just saying the club are currently in legal discussions with Calum Elliot & it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.
