Not surprised in the least. Two losing teams in partnership
Serious hat on,yep surprised at this but interestingly the last paragraph says that the Flyers contacted Dunfermline. Now they`ve either contacted the Rovers and been knocked back or they`ve not contacted the Rovers and seen a tie in with an SPL club(for how much longer?)a better option. _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |

To be honest I am quite happy about this as I have wanted to try the ice hockey for ages (although it pains me to support a team from Kirkcaldy ), and it gives me a good incentive if we have a free week or a long distance away day to go along. However it does seem strange that it's ourselves that have taken up this offer rather than a team in their own town, were the Rovers approached and why did they not take up the offer if they were?
It seems like a good idea |
You should be happy.....it's a rehab plan... to soften the blow of your impeading relegation back to the SFL _________________ supportrovers@aol.co.uk

Haha I expected I would need the tin hat
Be happy enough in the sfl tbh better banter more derbies and better away days. Being in a league we have no chance of winning no matter how many years (probably one lol) we might compete in it is depressing too |

I was going to take in a Flyers game or two this season but now that they have linked up with the townies there is no way i'll be attending.
Am i being petty and bitter? You better believe i am. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

doesn't sound like the flyers fault tbh if Raith apparently turned it down. |

I appreciate that but seeing Jim Leishman wearing a Flyers top is enough to put me off the Flyers for life. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

I think this is pretty poor effort from the club as the flyers are are from kirkcaldy and we should be supporting each other. No offence to the townies as i am sure there is plenty of their fans who go to the hockey and who will take advantage of the scheme.I know lots of raith fans who go to the rovers and thye wont be happy at the rovers not at least trying to work with the flyers. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

1400 at SP last Sat and around 1200 at the rink.
I'll bet last weekend there was twice as many Rovers regular fans at the rink than there were hockey fans at SP, a statistic that I doubt will ever change.
The Muirs/KIHC have more to gain through this venture than RRFC or DAFC although ultimately the public are the real winners and for that I applaud this move.
This though when all is said and done is a device that will help out but a scant few.
The fact is both RRFC and FF are struggling to keep thier heads above water in a town/area that has very little disposable income. The writing is on the wall and has been for some time, even last year when we topped the table fans wouldn't/couldn't come in decent numbers. This season theres even less money around and we aren't at the top of the table and not (Saturday aside) playing winning football.
If this recession carries on with it's constant downward spiral sport will inevitably change in this country (Scotland) as clubs will disapear. Perhaps the time has come for sentiment to be laid to one side and for that change to happen.
I don't want to see any club die but I feel it is coming. Should that fate eventually befall Raith Rovers I'll not take up with Fife Flyers nor any of the other senior football teams. I'll spend my Saturdays watching the YM or games in Ravenscraig and Beverige Parks. _________________ Competitive goals: Vaughan 5, Smith 4, Easton 3, Hamilton 2, Dick 1, Gullan 1, Masson 1, Mitchell 1, Mullin 1, Stanton 1, Watson 1, OG's 1, |

Direct from the Fife Flyers Commercial Manager
"I would like to clear something up on this subject:
I was informed that we had approached Raith Rovers regarding a similar arrangement that has been set up with Dunfermline Athletic. This in fact was not the case and I apologise to the Rovers' board and fans for suggesting this.
As soon as I was was aware of this I went to Starks Park and had an informal meeting with a board member and the outcome is that the two clubs have agreed to open talks to form a partnership where we can hopefully work together on many levels."
Looks like the Rovers ARE looking into the possibility of something like this. |

GOOD and thats not because i like the flyers but because the clubs should be supporting each other and doing everything possible to maximise that support. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE
