Hi guys,
Just to let everyone know that I am hoping to take part in the London Marathon in April next year, with any money I raise through sponsorship/donations going to THE RONNIE COYLE BENEFIT FUND.
Obviously, Ronnie's story doesn't need any introduction because we all know it... and I think doing something like the Marathon and raising money in Ronnie's memory is a great way to honour the life of a man we all loved.
I paid my £32 to get into the ballot, so as soon as I hear anything (which should be around October time), I'll let you all know .
Thanks. _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

Cheers Quinny. I'll even do the Marathon sporting a Rovers strip as well. Ronnie was a man who meant someone to all of us My biggest regret about The Rovers is that I was too young to appreciate what the glory days of the mid 90's were like for Raith... and Ronnie was at the heart of it all of course.
It's only now that I'm all grown up that I can fully realise what I missed out on while I was captivated in front of the telly watching a certain football game played at Ibrox all them years ago.
I was lucky enough to grab a few seconds with Ronnie at half-time in the Benefit match, and he was in wonderful form (as he always was! .) OK, come Marathon time Ronnie will have been gone a year - but his Rovers spirit will be in all of hearts forever... and as I said before, I feel that doing something like this is befitting of a man who never gave up fighting until he couldn't fight any longer.
Even a pound from as many folk as possible would be great . _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

No probs mate as you are doing a good thing and if you need any info about ronnies fund speak to jim clarke or ally gourlay.I got my picture taken at the dinner with ronnie and paul mcstay and paul said to me quinny can i get your autograph ha ha.Seriously just being there with ronnie was brilliant and i had a tear in my eye but he was a legend and a gentleman.Ronnie want called BARESI for nothing you know altho watching him tackle we should have changed his nickname to GENTILE His spirit will always be with us and we handed over £820 to the fund at FIFES FINEST AWARDS NIGHT at DV8 last night. That was made up of £220 raised before pars game at new year,£500 donation from styx for 2 signed shirts and £100 from auction winner for signed away shirt. So if you can come close to that it would be fantastic and if you come to styx with your forms am sure our lads will sponsor you.Even me who will find 50p from somewhere for you. _________________ YOULL NEVER WALK ALONE

Cheers big man. I'll get round to sorting things out once I know whether I'm in or not
As for you finding any spare change in your pocket... quite an achievement that would be ya big tight-fisted bar steward! I'll pop into Styx one day before a game next season . _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

I'll give you a wee hint of advice as far as running in a football strip goes - avoid where possible. I know why you would want to do it, and fully understand, but you can't imagine how annoying nipple rash is until you've had it. God knows what it would be like come the 19th mile or whatever.
If you do go for the Rovers strip, either tape your nipples up (i'm not joking btw), or use extreme amounts of vaseline. |

The plan to run in a Rovers strip may well have to be abandoned having just viewed that rather moving image! _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,

I don't have that one mate! Got the red Sunshine Windows away top from when we won the 2nd Division back in '03 (one of my favourite Rovers tops actually), so might go with that. I don't know, I'll think of something.
At present, I'm just trying to get an idea of how many people would be willing to put money towards the cause. My main worry though is that will those same people still have that same enthusiasm 6 months down the line if/when it comes to actually starting my fundraising efforts?
Don't get me wrong, The Ronnie Coyle Benefit Fund is a wonderful cause - and I wouldn't have fundraised for any other cause... I'm sure Joan and the kids Ronnie has left behind will greatly appreciate the fact I am running in memory of Ronnie. It means a hell of a lot to me personally to be doing something as hard as this as a way of remembering Ronnie - he didn't give up, neither will I
Thanks for all the positive messages so far guys. I intend to start a light training programme next week, then gradually build towards the big day in April next year... and all being well, I could even see if the cheque presentation can be made at the final home game of next season - by which time my legs will probably just have recovered from the 26+ miles! _________________ Oh no no no Geordie Munro,
