I just would like to say thanks to all those who helped make this years visits possible once more.On monday we went first of all to the MAGGIES CENTRE where they welcomed us with a smile, cup of coffee and shortbread. The players signed autographs and posed for photo`s with lorna and the other staff and the visitors that were there aswell as handing in presents. After saying our goodbyes we nipped into VICTORIA HOSPICE which was quieter than normal as the xmas party had been cancelled due to the weather. We spoke to the staff and volunteers there and john and the lads signed more autographs then posed for photo`s before going to meet 1 or 2 patients who were in.One of them so happened to be a rovers fan and seeing his heroes walk through the door made his day especially when he was handed rovers scarf as a present. Our final visit which is always emotional was to the CHILDRENS WARD which is now on the 1st floor at FORTH PARK.When we arrived we were met by staff who explained where we were going and who was in and once roary was finished preening himself we were taken to see the kids. The lads handed out loads of presents which included RAITH HATS,SCARVES,FLAGS aswell as SELECTION BOXES with a box of sweets for the staff. While they were doing this some of the staff explained to me about a charity that is organised in kids wards which originated in ninewells in dundee. They have a box on the ward filled full with toys, scarves, dvds etc which is handed out to each child that goes home after being in the hospital throughout the year.It is such a worthwhile cause and one which we will try to support in the coming year.
Tonight we took ROARY ROVER on a wee visit to RACHEL HOUSE to hand out some more presents to the kids there but that is another story. One thing though when you visit there you enter a happy place and that comes from the staff. It doesnt matter what is wrong with the kids the staff and also the parents make everyone smile despite the heartbreak at times.I would like thank the following people for making these visits happen.........
