My take on playing for your country,
If your born in that country, or any of your parents were then you can be considered to be of that nationality. Anything else (great grandmothers nannys boyfriends uncle's dug was a westie that once ate a puddin supper etc) then you don't qualify.
And Jim Taynor if you're reading this I didn't agree with Stuart McCall never mind Sullivan, Quashie et al.
Oh and if you say you don't want to be picked then stuff ye! you're oot for good!
McNatcho? I don't think so! |

Got to agree with you there Scotty
Novo's a good striker but it would be a kick in the teeth for players like Fletcher McCormack and so on who are just as good if not better than Novo. _________________ In the supermarket you have class one, two or class three eggs and some are more expensive than others and some give you better omelettes - Jose Mourinho |

Agreed........nothing against individuals or those brought up here after parents immigrating BUT you are either born here or one of your parents were.................and even then..........that individual must, in themselves. WANT to play for Scotland and not just cos they cant get in the Brazil team _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |

Didn't work for Joe Baker. Capped quite a few times for England as we all know but it was worse for brother Gerry. He had to play for the USA at a time when they were almost off the world radar in the 1960's. How sad must that have been? Living in Coatbrig' and playing for Uncle Sam _________________ Talk on Talk on

Just a a slight aside, Deco plays for portugal cos he got himself a European passport after 5 years there, otherwise he would be playing for Brazil . Smart man tho, he can stay and move within the euro union which he otherwise would not have been able to do as he would maybe not get a work permit.
Another Zola Budd?. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |
