I might have guessed this would turn into a anti-Labour thread. What a surprise. I'll not even bother replying to this thread again. _________________ http://www.twitter.com/RaithRoversLive - Follow me to recieve live updates from the games this season! |

Doesn't matter which politician is at it. Broon, Salmond, Cameron, Clegg, or even Hitler (sorry Griffin). Politics and football should NEVER be mixed. Too many strong feelings on both subjects on their own potentially alienating sections of your own club's support against your political viewpoint.
Anyhow, Salmond wouldn't parade about with a Rovers top. He is a Jambo. _________________ 15 years since we won the cup! 15 years!! |

| To be honest I am no labour supporter but any positive publicity for Rovers can only be a good thing and if anybody disagrees with this needs their heads looked. |

I really don't see how this is mixing football with Labour party politics.
As far as I'm concerned, it was to raise publicity for the poppy appeal; something Brown is likely to have expected of him in his remit as an MP. Since we've donated a signed shirt for the appeal, I think it all ties in pretty well.
I also agree that politics and football shouldn't be mixed. However, despite Brown's job, I don't really see this as a politically - that is to say, a means to promote his party - motivated photoshoot. A nice gesture by the club, promoted by the PM. Hopefully it generates a bit more interest in the auction, which i'm sure the intention was in this instance.
When was the last time we made the front page of The Scotsman, if indeed we ever have? _________________ It's rainin' sideways! |

| The response on this thread is a joke. Having a Raith shirt in front of a landmark of our union is brilliant publicity. Anyone involved in the club will tell you that the more coverage we get the better. Anyway, I'm sure Brown doesn't support Raith in order to win votes...he does it because he cares about the club. |

Gordon was on Real Radio's football phone in (06/11/2009) - he wished rovers all the best for the game today and said that the media should speak about the rovers more....... he went on to say he would love us to get back into the S.P.L - (i'm sure another 2 or 3 million onto UK debt wouldn't be the end of the world.... would it Gordon!???)
And there was me hoping I was the one that shared the 90 million Euro win (won by 2 people from the UK!) |

Rovers getting great publicity and folk are winging.
It's nothing to do with politics or the Labour Party, it's about the poppy appeal which is about all our servicemen and women past and present who sacrificied their lives for our country. Unless you are a nugget like the Celtic fans who booed the minutes silence the other week then what right minded person can object to that?
The only people making this political are Geordie_Munro, jacobite and Neebur because they don't agree politically with the PM. Grow up lads. _________________ I don't want to go to Idaho, I'd rather watch Gregory Tade |
