I recently put together a custom PC, using a budget case with a power supply included. As you'd expect, the power supply is cheap, and the fan is loud. I am going to replace the power supply fan with a quiet AccoustiFan dust proof.

However, the existing power supply fan is soldered to the PCB in the power supply. Would it be safe to cut the existing fan wires and seal with electrical tape and use the PWR_FAN 3-pin plug on the motheboard to power and monitor the new fan?

I've replaced power supply fans before, but never one with a soldered fan connection, normally only like for like. Does anyone know if this would be wise?

Edit: I went ahead and did this. Worked a charm (so far), and now nice and quiet!
