Euan Murray released by Hartlepool . St Johnstone fans deny their club is interested and Dunfermline fans say he would be a fourth choice, so is he returning to SP?
I'd take him ,not just as a defender but also to get on the end of Josh Mullin's corners!
Other Raith fans have not forgiven him for manufacturing a move to the Pars, even although they were in a higher league than us at the time.
All rumour ,of course!

Not forgiven for manufacturing his move Franco, however I'm far more concerned about his ability to run backwards and not put in a challenge. The amount of goals we lost where he backtracked allowing a forward to pick his spot was utterly infuriating.

You'll be ecstatic with the news then?
Or mair likely, beelin'!🫣
Perhaps, even dare I suggest, a backward step?🤔

Experienced and been here before. Happy enough with that signing. Corr didn’t fill me with confidence and perhaps being back up to Murray and Watson will help him learn

I honestly couldn’t care less about him leaving in the past.

If he gives his all on the pitch while contracted to Raith Rovers, that will do for me…

Players can say what they want, kiss as many badges as they want but let’s face it, loyalty isn’t really a thing for 99% of them these days!

The main issue here should be whether he will improve the defence we already have and will our defence on the whole do better than it did last season, let’s *beep* hope so!

I welcome him back 100%

As for strengthening the defence compared to last year SB, I genuinely believe he will!

He may also strengthen the goal count as an added bonus?

Good to have him back but think Corr also has great potential as does Masson. Hopefully we can stop the leaking leak.

Come on, Scotty, what defender in second tier of Scottish football doesn't have a weakness? They all do, and you know it. I'd far rather have the balance now in place, compared to the rash challenges of a Benedictus, the rushes of blood to the head of a Davidson, the schoolboy errors of a Lang, the softness of a Nolan - and I could go on.

There are two ways to look at it, I guess: the negative view of a backward step (Embow, I hope you're not serious) or the positive view of unfinished business (Ian Murray, I hope that is sincerely meant).

It won't surprise any of you to know that I'm going with the positive slant because, at the end of the day, we're gaining a decent (if flawed) experienced footballer at this level.

I really feel we can challenge for the top now.....

Not being serious at all. Just picking up on the running backwards comment. I hold my hands up to being guilty of using sarcasm as the lowest form of wit🙌🫣

I think when you look at how difficult its been to attract players in that position, that's probably about as good a signing as we could have made to be honest. Experienced player, the right side of 30, who has had proven success at this level and who knows the club.

Both of our starting centre backs have won this league within the last 4 years - that's a decent enough position to be in.

Add that to Corr who actually seems to be a pretty decent player, and I'd say we are actually looking pretty well set at the back.

Well Murray wouldn't be my first choice (bit of deja vu?) but in the current market I can't think of too many alternatives (and again). His main weakness aside he's fairly solid and will be a threat at set pieces up the other end too, hopefully he'll be okand if he's gotten better since he left the so much the better.

I concur with Calderon.

Not only do I think he will be a good signing, but it shows the new club overall management are doing their fair share of putting their money where their mouths are.
It is all looking to be a good start with the signing of some decent players and hopefully they will be a cohesive unit.

Defo gonna be a tough league campaign, but at least the club et al are certainly trying to get the players sorted.

My expectations ,as usual, is to get to the playoffs .
We are certainly in a better place than we were at the start of last season and I applaud the club for the work they are doing. Smile

Agree Cuperman

Not sure what some expect us to be signing

Almost every player even at the top level has weaknesses and prone to mistakes from keeper to centre forwards

For me, the more cover we have the better. Murray might do well, he might not, but we can't have the holes in the squad that we had last season.
