I remember watching Carson as a young Keeper and thought he had a lot of promise. I also remember him scoring a goal from a kick out against Cowdenbeath at central park. Every time he had the ball in his hands after that the Rover's faithful shouted SHOOT!

I don't know what happened to Tam? (Anyone?) I remember he had a huge confidence dunt when we went to Rangers and we lost eight goals that day but I am not sure how much that affected him? As I said, in his early days with Rovers he was very young for a Keeper, and showed tremendous talent and potential.

SORRY GUYS BIG ERROR IN THIS POST Embarassed SEE MY REPLY TO WOLFY BELOW

Thanks for this Wolfy. However, having read the link you kindly included, I discovered I had (not for the first time) made an idiot of myself. Embarassed

I do of course remember Tam Carson, but I had confused him with another younger Goalkeeper from the eighties, Tam (Tommy) Walker. So my story above relates to him and not Tam Carson! So Whatever happened to Tam (Tommy) Walker?

Moderators: Maybe you should include a wee questionnaire before we can sign on to prove competence to post? Nothing too hard, maybe just something like: What day is it!

I see that on this day in 1990 , Jimmy Nicholl started his superb first stint as manager ( player / manager at that point).
Stated to be The Rovers most successful manager, quite rightly in my view and lifetime.
I'm currently reading a book by David Potter which refers to James H Logan in the 1910s and 1920s , and he must rank up there, as a high achiever! A Scottish Cup Final and third place in the League, amongst other things.

The much missed Ronnie Coyle passed away 11 years ago.

It came to.my mind reading this that it would have been 30 years ago last weekend when we secured the now (but back then still Division 1) Championship league title and first time promotion to the Premier League with the 2-0 home victory over Dumbarton. Cue great scenes of celebration 🍻🍾🥃

30 years and still a vivid memory. Being on the pitch afterwards. 11 years for Ronnie Baresi is unreal too. Never forget his volley away at Ibrox.

1984 and we beat Brechin City 6-0 with Jim Kerr scoring 4. I recall Iain Campbell playing for Brechin and he taught PE at KHS then

I had him for PE on the Friday morning before the game.
He said he half hoped the Rovers would win as Dick was the assistant manager, but said unfortunately he'd have to hammer the final nail in our coffin.

Jim Kerr is the FPA guest at tonight's game.

Used to recall pupils asking him “what’s the time?” And then saying “six past Brechin”

Jim Kerr was at our table in hospitality tonight.
Thoroughly decent spud.
Some good stories about his time with the Rovers and playing under John Lambie and Jim McLean.

100 years ago today since we set sail from Tilbury on the Highland Loch for our tour of the Canaries and ended up shipwrecked off the coast of Spain.
