Yeah, still think it’s a bit early to judge.

Huge transition for a young boy moving down there, he was doing well enough this season down at Northampton playing in a physically demanding league, often out of position but sadly looks like he will be out for remainder of season due to injury.

If you see him these days, he has filled out. My biggest concern was always his strength and physique as his work rate, football brain and natural instincts were never really to be questioned.

Like 99% of young footballers, he might not make it to the biggest of stages but still has every chance of playing at a high level and having a great career as a footballer… time will tell.

His parent club, Fulham, play at too high a level for him. If they were bottom half of the Championship he would stand a better chance. He is very tall and strong for someone so young, but i think he has always lacked pace which is a must for playing at the top level. He should make a career in the English lower leagues though. We can safely wave goodbye to any sell on clause which appeased the supporters when he left far too soon imo.

If not good enough for Fulham then why would they sign him? Invest in his development for some other club to prosper?

They, along with other top clubs sign a lot of young players simply to see if they develop through their youth systems, Bowie was just another in a long line. The fee of £150k is not even a gamble to a club like Fulham. When he signed they were nowhere near the level they are at present. To invest in their development is probably no different to us paying guys like Young, Mitchell, Arnott and Mahady etc, then freeing them at the end of their contracts.

I'll predict that Bowie and Dylan Tait for that matter will play as many matches for their current parent clubs as i did.

That’s exactly it, football is a money and numbers game at the higher levels. Spending a few hundred thousand quid on a prospect is fine as long as one of ten can provide some small return selling on, one of twenty-five can play for them eventually and be sold for a nice profit and one of fifty to a hundred can command a large fee with another, higher/richer, club.

Schedule shows it’s Crewe vs Salford…even so, it might not matter, he’s only possible on a return from an injury versus Hartlepool Saturday.

Just noticed on Final Score that Louis Appere is also in the team with Kieron. Louis' grandad was a prolific scorer for East Fife in the early 1960's. George Dewar whom some of the more mature poster may well remember from times past.
Two young Fifers playing up front for the Cobblers is not something that you'll see very often.

Would be a remarkably easy way for Fulham to see if he’s developing the way they want, but Northampton Town fans lamenting the loss of Bowie next year, so maybe they know something. Seems yesterday was somewhat unusual with Bowie isolated up top.

Was talking with my ex Fulham player mate at the weekend. He brought up the subject of KB. Seems Fulham are very pleased with his progress at Northampton but he didn't offer any insight into what their plans were for him. I'll see if I can get him to ask some questions.
