If Killie were making full or part payments to cover his wages, I can’t see us holding on to him unfortunately. Kyle would be a good asset for the club, someone I’d think would move on to a higher level in the next five years.

Maybe not, because IM stated earlier that he hoped to come to an agreement with Kyle. Maybe the offer from East Kilbride was better, suited Kyle better?
