Mind you he was never asked the question |
Probably been told to stop asking about it |
Yet he's happy to blab to The Courier about the fact we're awaiting clearance on a player. |

Guys. Are we being a bit harsh on IM here?
I think he genuinely thought he had signings lined up when he stated that on RTV. However, deals can collapse at any time, even at the eleventh hour and I think this is what has happened to Ian. This experience will have made him very sceptical about promising to deliver new signings until the ink is dry on the paper. Effective communication relies on the communicator to be very aware of something called "Expectation Management". This can be a complicated process, but simply put it means, under promise and over deliver. We were all expecting a marque signing because both Ian and John Sim told us to expect it. Subsequently when it didn't happen, we were all disappointed and somewhat frustrated. Had we not been expecting something to happen, then nothing happens; there is no frustration or disappointment. On the other hand, if we are not expecting something to happen, and he then signs our marque signing; we are all impressed and maybe a bit excited at the prospect of what's to come. More importantly, Ian does not look like he is promising something he cannot deliver.
As for talking to the Courier about this and not RTV I guess he would have had little choice but to answer a question put to him by an outside reporter. Both Ian and Daivie work for Raith Rovers. They both have to enjoy a harmonious working relationship and as such I am sure the questions Davie asks are agreed before the interview and they both may have felt steering clear of the new signings subject was the right thing to do until there was something more definite to report?
I know we as fans are always desperate to hear news of the team, and especially after the less than perfect start we have had to the season. However eagerness to let us know what is going on from the management transfer position can, as we have seen, lead to our ultimate frustration.
I think Ian is wise to hold back saying anything about transfers until a deal has actually taken place with contracts signed and work permits gained. |

Look forward to the unveiling of the new goal-machine now that we are safe from defeats for yet another week and we have little more time to sort the team out! Oh and Iain - please sort us a defender too. If it doesn't work out, then at least you can tell us whingers that you did what you could! |

“ G.B. pulling some strings”
As long as Broon didn’t make a pledge, it should work out fine. |

Any development with John Fredriksen - or is that lead dead-in-the-water? |

See Ayr have signed Logan Chalmers on loan from Dundee Utd.Decent stats,5 in 12 last season whilst on loan at Caley and scored Caleys,2 and 3rd in our 3-2 loss to them. _________________ THERES FIVE OF ME |
