Won 6-0 away to the Faroes tonight. Just thought they deserved a mention, because, no doubt the imminent Celtic media meltdown will totally blot out their moment of glory!
Can Rovers hire some of them please? |

Don’t think winning 6-0 v The Faroes is much to harp on about.
The 8-0 and 2-0 defeats to Spain a few months ago are a better indicator of where they are right now in comparison to the better nations. |

They certainly did a helluva lot better than the men's side did out there last time. |

Is it legal for a female player to play in the SPFL? Would there be any sponsor willing to pay a good part of her salary in order to play? The Championship is likely too high a level, but… |

But what?
You really do post a load of nonsense. Are you dumb to the obvious disparity between a male’s physical abilities v a female’s?
Before you even consider ‘skill’ levels, men are just too big, too strong, too fast
It wouldn’t be silly to suggest that if Raith Rovers were to play the England team that just won their Euros that Raith would win by at least 10 clear goals, probably closer to 20!
In the recent past Man Utd ladies were beaten 9-0 by Salford u16’s, Leicester ladies (I think) were beaten 5 or 6 nil by Leicesters u14’s..
Even your neck of the woods, didn’t the USA national women play a friendly against some Dallas u15 school team and lose by 5 goals?
Reminds me of the time the Williams sisters claimed they could beat any man ranked outside the top 200 and that German player took them up on it, was smoking between games.. beat one of them 6-1, had a couple of beers then played the other in a set and won 6-2! |

So, let’s see…I simply asked if it was legal? I asked this because in the College level American Football, there have been several ladies playing with the lads. Now, those were in specialized roles, however, this was mainly because girls were prevented from playing roles other than kicker in the earlier levels. More recently, there have been a couple of young ladies who have competed on the same level as young men, mainly as defensive backs or wide receivers.
On that basis, there are likely a few ladies who could play in the lower mens leagues successfully. As I noted, the Scottish Championship is likely too high a level, but I could certainly see some company willing to front the money to pay a female player to compete at a level closer to League Two in Scotland. The challenge would be to get the men to accept she was a genuine competitor and not a circus freak, and for that purpose, I wonder if a female keeper might not be the most likely outcome of such an attempt.
I’ll also note that looking at team results is flawed because of the range of abilities on a team. The best female player might be outclassed by most of the male team, but not, perhaps, by all. In closing on this comparison, reading a bit about old Bill Veeck might show how a stunt now and then could pay off…even if you don’t send a midget to the plate.
I certainly wasn’t contemplating Raith signing a female forward, although I’m not entirely sure it would necessarily be a massive step down from Connell or McBride, I simply wondered if the SPFL Rules of Competition were written in a gendered manner.
P.S. The USWNT vs the U-15 Boys was an informal scrimmage with the ladies focusing on teamwork, development, defending threats and responding to a different challenge…the score was 5-2, and the boys were very open in stating the ladies would probably have beaten them soundly if the game had been serious. |

Nonsense post Tx, ladies cannot compete with laddies let alone men, there game should be allowed to develop separately to give fair competition and development, it seems to be doing fine just now. _________________ We dont need no stinking badges |

Your beliefs conflict with facts in several areas, but not all, so it is all speculation until it occurs, positive or negative…still hasn’t been answered, I guess I’ll go root around. |

A quick paw through the SPFL Rules and the Player Annex show them to be commendably neutral on gender, although he/his/him is used occasionally with regard to players. In that context, it doesn’t appear to be limiting. |

Had you said in football, I would say unproven…in several other sports, there is some doubt the line is as clear as people think, and in a couple the line is partially erased. |

Mmm, deflection shields up, as the previous discussion was about women playing in men's football, I would of thought that it was obvious i meant women in football, glad to see I'm right again though _________________ We dont need no stinking badges |
