I suppose the only positives is that this has come pretty early and hopefully underlines more needs to be done around recruitment. I agree as well, why we are developing other side's youngsters and not doing so ourselves.

The other positive was Murray's post-match interview as if this was McGlynn we'd be treated to 'unlucky', 'early days', 'rub of the green' etc. Cannot see us getting a result versus Dundee but at least more commitment would be appreciated.

Is this going to happen every time they lose?

They pulled comments from Facebook due to some scam replies being added to posts I think. Don't believe it's anything other than that.

Virtually impossible to leave the game with any real positives.

Bare minimum of 1 x Centre Half and 1 x Centre Forward needed pretty damn soon.

Lots of good possession football, we absolutely dominated the first half , but Cove always looked the more likely to score.

I actually thought Cove looked pretty poor so that in itself is really concerning.

I wasn’t there, presume you were… the possession stats on BBC at ht were 70-30 in Cove’s favour, is that inaccurate or did we actually have less good ‘possession’ football than you actually remember?

I was at the game, and looked at BBC stats afterc25-30 mins. We had totally dominated up to that point, except for their goal obviously, yet it showed 70-30 for Cove when it should've been the other way. Mind you, 2nd half levelled that stay off anyway.

To the game itself, I agree we are powder puff out of possession, and lack fight across the team, albeit with a few honourable exceptions. We need all four injured guys back ASAP, as no one on the books can match Lang's defensive quality, Matthews' midfield steel, Spenc3r's match craft or Vaughan's class.

Late with new signings, and unproven in his judgement with early signings (Brown in particular), Ian Murray has a lot of work ahead to make our team at least a competitive mid-table outfit this season. I hope he can convince me soon

I find that stat very, very hard to believe.

Murray might well be complicit NR but we don’t know what extent his hands are tied regards signings?

Myself along with most others expected more than a couple of kids and a CB with very little game time at ANY level. The very least I expected was a seasoned CB to negate the loss of Bene (and obviously now Berra)

I remember Sim in his interview after the Goodwillie debacle (when it was actually starting to die down) when he laughed off the claims that the signing would have financial implications on the club and it’s 1st team squad. I hope this fact hasn’t changed and we still have one or two signings up our sleeves or it could be a struggle, certainly until our injury list clears up and then we are praying they come back fit and healthy to see out feast of season…

Its interesting to hear Murrays interview on K107 where he details 3 separate transfers for centre halves that fell down at the last hurdle. One due to the player not wanting to play on astro, one due to location, and one due to parent club suddenly needing injury cover.

I don't buy into the feeling that Murray has been sitting on his hands and is now panicking at the last minute. My gut feeling is that this market is proving tougher than anyone thought. Certainly doesn't seem to be a Raith Rovers only problem.

May be one that hindsight shows keeping one of Benedictus or Musonda would have been wise. However, 2 months ago I think the decision to clear out a decent chunk of a defence that leaked like a sieve made sense in principle, but it's certainly been a slog trying to replace them.

On the plus side, Connell was absolutely fine. Hopefully we can get some quality of sorts in beside him.

I do wonder how much the decisions of the previous management team are starting to harm us. Gullan, Ross and Stanton are all on multiple year deals- and we are getting little from that investment. Then there's Keatings on a 2 year deal last year, and the obvious one which combined a significant contract with cash fee to Clyde.

I'm not a football finance expert, but I'm assuming that the above, along with the deluge of midfielders at the club, don't really leave a huge amount of budget for cover in other areas.

My main concern is upfront. I don't think we have been fundamentally bad in any of our games so far. We've had spells of good possession in all of them. The problem is there is absolutely zero threat in the final third. The absolute sitter early doors from Gullan yesterday highlights where the problem is. Someone on the other channel stated you can't midfield your way to success, and that's a very pertinent point. It's very telling that with 2 minutes to go, we were still trying to work the ball between centre backs to build an attack rather than go direct. The main reason being there is absolutely no physical presence or threat in that side at all. And in games like yesterday, you get bullied.

I do think the manager is right about the team being soft. We can have the best centre backs in the world, but there is still an element of having to defend as a team. Sam Stanton is the standout culprit for that 2nd goal, and that would have been an issue regardless of defensive personnel. When every man is back for a corner kick, for example, then every man shares responsibility. Again, I think this a problem with the personality of players that the current management team have inherited. They are too nice.

As much as I agree with the managers interview, it will be interesting to see how the players deal with that. Not something we saw from Mcglynn too much - and I imagine the dynamic was fairly different. Let's see how these guys react to fairly spiky comments like that.

It's a huge period now for the manager though.

Watched the highlights…

Nice little park, but those granules!

How the feck did we allow a Cove player open on the back post for goal one?

We had chances, but didn’t deliver.

Our back line is not communicating/anticipating well yet, to be expected with the current status.

That “trick” corner is done…bin it till after Christmas.

As previously mentioned by others, this highlights the many weaknesses and issues with the squad.
We neeed to get another experienced CH in. The new guy is OK but seems slightly off the pace. That way we can move Brown into the middle, where we are very powderpuff off the ball. Holding midfielder is urgently required and Brown should do that.
The only player I thought earned a wage on Saturday was Aidan Connolly. The rest were too easily bullied off the ball, and wheen not in possesion we looked like a sunday league side.
Up front, not seen enough of the new guy from Killie. However, I was shouting for Zanatta to go on in place of the jelly hammer. (Thats saying somethng, as I feel Zanatta flatters to decieve all the time). Gullan is totally out of his depth at this level.
If Murray doesnt see that he needs to be battering on Sims door to get cash released to get in an experienced CH and a CF that can hold the ball up, then I might have been wrong to have had him top of the list to replace McGlynn.
If we go into the Dundee game like we did up at Cove, then it will be a high scoring defeat.
