IF, as is reported frequently atm in our news shows and daily rags, that the ENGLISH LIONESSES are only on 30k a year........where does that put “ championship “ players in the footy ladder earners.?
It has never crossed my mind before but I was suddenly feeling very nosey.
I know some people are very guarded as to how much they earn, and for various reasons like to keep it to themselves......and I believe that is fair enough.
I would be interested to know though where our Scottish football players stand, ROUGHLY in the earnings league. ( boom boom)
Please speculate, as. Bit of fun, if nothing else.
As regards these woman footballers.......It was recently in the media that the ENGLISH WSL averages league game gates at around 2000 and their “ championship “ league average 500 gates.
Not exactly great gates and whilst not wishing to sound sexist......I would put my house on the rovers to put TEN past the newly to be crowned champions.
I myself have 3 nieces that have all been signed up to senior clubs, but I don’t see them earning the equivalent to their male counterparts.
There are some things that Mother Nature does rule on.

Had a similar thought the other year Man of Cupar - I looked up Scott Browns anual income (less sponsorships etc) and it was quite high. 1.25 million IRC and the entire budget of the RR business was in the region of 750k - the eyebrow was raised. I could of course be wildly off - but the reported salaries of our players made me think - are they also in need of supplemental benefits. Some were that low. The highest earner was the loanee from Rangers on £220K but I discounted him from the tally. _________________ Here Wee go again

Apparently the net worth of Mr Brown (current) is £130 million!! No bad for a “Parson”! Not picking on Scott personally - just an example of the income of some players. _________________ Here Wee go again |

I've no doubt Brown is incredibly wealthy but he isn't £130m wealthy. _________________ Fantalk~Often wrong but never in doubt |

He is according to Mr Google Although other estimates you knock off a few tens of millions. 🤓

Actually I have really enjoyed the tournament, England have been excellent, but so were Germany, Sweden and France. I think you have to be realistic given the professional game for the girls is in it's infancy, but they do play some *beep* good stuff at times and Russo's goal was pure strikers instinct, you can't train that. Technically I think they are very good, there are physical aspects to their game you cannot compare with the mens game, and, whilst there are some exceptions, they have a long way to go on goal keeper training. But if you read what some of the women have had to put up with just so they could play football, in this day and age, it is a nonsense. So if there are a few earning big bucks now, then good on them, Lucy Bronze is probably the best right back in the world, so why shouldn't she get the big bucks.
The only thing that grips me is the whole LQBT+ flag waving crap, now hold your horse, I am not gay bashing here but, it is a given that a large proportion of women footballers are gay, they are also brave enough to come out but, as the gay lass who does my massage, my gay niece (whose wedding I am going to next month) and my gay nephew says, why do these events keep having to shove gay rights to the front of it all. Not one of the 3 I mentioned have been to a pride march, they are all in stable relationships (one married, 2 about to be) they cannot understand why these sportswomen, as well paid as they may be, are being forced to advertise gay rights, why can't they be treated as equals? Rant on behalf of my gay friends and family over _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

I’m bothered by your presumption of it being “Natural” the ladies earn less. For example, in the U.S., the WNST had greater earnings for the Federation than the MNST, but the ladies were still being paid less. The ladies got more TV revenue and higher gate revenue, but had to fight for (even) parity, let alone a more fair revenue sharing.
The ladies game is different than the mens game, but is equally capable of gaining support and fans, when equal opportunities are provided…but the ladies game has a lot less exposure in most places, and a lot less history. The expectation that the ladies game will simply be a slightly slower, and less physical, version of the mens game is part and parcel of the expectation bias that clouds attempts to promote the ladies game.
With three nieces in the sport, surely you have attended enough ladies matches to perceive the differences in the game, and I wonder how you view them? |

I don’t disagree with what you say.
The “Mother Nature “ reference is that men and woman are not, for the most part, physically equal.
That is a biological fact......in general.
That is not to say that there are not woman around who could not kick my ass.
........Over the years it has probably been on the wish list of a few I have met.
Across the board there are few examples where woman can play at a skill level and tempo as the male of the species.
If there are any......then good on them.
I would argue Mother Nature is biased.......but in both directions depending on species. _________________ Born a Rover Live a Rover Die a Rover |
