First league match of the season and the first league meeting with Cove and a bit of a mixed record in other competitions against them. Hopefully we can disappoint them on their flag day. Tickets are on sale on the Cove website already.

Worth noting that there are rail disruptions on the Saturday with LNER services on strike. For those travelling, recommend the Wellington Hotel for a pre match lunch and few beers, not a bad walk from the ground.

I understand that the 2 temporary stands won't be completed in time for this game so standing room may be at a premium.

True. Tickets I got were for standing, £18 for adults.

Starting back four now:

Millen, Brown, Dick, Young…Jesus wept.

Well, at least Berra frees some salary…but how do you feel about letting McKay go now?

Running out of time to get centre halves in for Saturday. However, I’m confident. As long as we can hold on to a 4 goal lead in the first match this season we will be alright.

This has become a massive game really. If we get a positive result with our threadbare squad then we can maybe face the upcoming games knowing that we can at least be competitive. If we get beat, then coupled with the league cup shambles, then a sense of dread is going to seep into the support ahead of a match against the title favourites the following weekend.

Very true.
Gonna be a good test of IM man management skills.

To be fair though to him, he had Airdrie motivated well to the point they managed to get to four seasonal play offs.

IMO, that is no mean feat and in itself tells a story.

I have faith that the players will give respect to Cove and faith that IM will “ punish them” if they don’t. Wink

We’ll need signings…as I see our depth chart (* injured, ^ out of position)

Keeper: MacDonald/Thomson/McNeil (presumed signed)/Bow

CB: Masson, Lang*, Brown^, Dick^

LB: Dick, Ngwenya, Young

RB: Millen, Brown^

M: Brown, Stanton, Spencer*, Matthews*

LM: Ross

AM: Easton, Arnott

CF: Gullan, Vaughan*, Mitchell^

LW: Zanatta, Mitchell, Coulson

RW: Connolly

To me, the signings should be 2 CB’s, with at least one able to cover RB. A striker is a luxury signing right now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see another RB and Millen moved to CB , if its two CBs that will be a bonus

I get where you’re coming from Tx but a big no 9 to hold the ball up or harry the opposition defence to stop it being fired straight back into our centre of defence putting us under constant pressure might be just as vital. If he can nick a few goals too, so much the better.

We’ve been light up front for a couple of years now. Before last season started we were looking for presence up front, I’m afraid due to a combination of Lewis’s injuries, lack of interest in signing Pops and the post Christmas fiasco, we still are.

I wholeheartedly agree on 2 centre backs being vital too, but we need a recognised centre forward.

However, we as always live in hope for Saturday. Cmon the Rovers

I don’t disagree we need the forward…but we need the defenders NOW…the attacker can wait a wee bit.

We do, we really do, but we also need someone to score goals. Maybe we’ll sign both, i certainly hope so, going by the league cup games we’ll struggle at both ends of the park if we don’t get anyone in.
