2nd goal was excellent too. Easton with some quick feet in the box and a good strikers finish from Gullan. |

Thought Jamie Gullan took his two goals well with some excellent build up play I also thought he might have had at least a hat-trick but it's good to see him get some rewards. The four goals were all well worked but if I were an Alloa fan I would be a wee bit worried about my defense. |

Maybe should have omitted that from the highlights 'due to a technical issue' don't want our opponents getting too much info _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Rovers had 3 captains during the match - Gullan started with the armband then Ross took it when Jamie went off and when Ethan went off Zanatta took over. |

Aye, I'm a bit confused with this too RZ.
I'm not sure (and this is a question) why we hold a closed door friendly, then show the highlights of the "closed door" match?? I get that managers often want to try stuff in a game against opposition that they might want to keep as a surprise, but why then allow the highlights to be televised and open for all to see? If the game held no secrets, why not just open it to the fans and maybe make some much needed cash from an entry fee?
Maybe one of you better educated posters understand this and can enlighten me/us? |

Just a thought. It's maybe not as easy as folk would think.
As soon as you open the door to the public then you have costs. Stewards in particular would be needed to be paid for.
Turnstile operators, Emergency Services (Inc police presence) also required, although some of these might be voluntary such as the gate checkers.
Would a low key affair (especially with an upcoming home game on Wednesday) be attractive enough in these difficult financial times to bring along enough folk to cover these basic costs?
Just my opinion.
I may be completely wrong. _________________ Talk on! Talk on!

That's a feasible explanation Embow. I hadn't thought about it from a "cost" angle. However it is my understanding RTV were not allowed to show a live stream for the overseas pass holders? Or have I got that wrong? |

Far be it for me to say you are wrong, but you are wrong (I think)
Generally, these games are used to try things out, formations, tactics, subs and trialists stuff the club want to work on and try out but in a more private manner.
Not to broadcast it on social media _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

That was my initial thought as to why it was behind closed doors.
I think there might have been some sort of bar on kicking off a friendly at 3pm due to the League Cup ties being played, so I assumed that with it being moved to 12pm, the club have calculated that the crowd would be miniscule and therefore barely cover costs.
In saying that, it was strange last pre season that the home friendly against Clyde was behind closed doors, but streamed live on Raith TV. _________________ Dougie Hill

The 12pm kick off was at least in part to allow the coaching team to go watch other games at 3pm. A game is usually behind closed doors to allow the team to try out new plans and triallists without other scouts being able to watch them as well and to not have to foot the costs associated to having a crowd. As for highlights showing off some "straight from the training ground" corner routines, well so what? Other teams might learn what they are, the point is to keep them off guard when they're tried. |
