I know someone who worked in economic development about 18 - 20 years ago and the core strategy / policy of Fife Council, Scottish Enterprise Fife, Business Gateway Fife and Fife Chamber of Commerce was to centre economic development in the Dunfermline/ Forth Bridgehead area. This has obviously been to Dunfermline's benefit and to the detriment of other parts of Fife, but was never made public and there never seemed to be any sort of outcry from politicians of any party.
In saying that, Dunfermline had probably 1000+ more of a hardcore support than us even before that.

Not to mention that Starks is in the wrong place now, look at its position in regards to the towns' expansion. What we really need is a new community stadium up near the A92 with better access than we currently have.

Currently a 15 minute (not too far) walk from bus and rail stations, up by the Boreland would be nearly an hours walk.
I use these instances as the club would probably need to submit details like this in planning applications to justify approval.
After all, we're supposed to be utilising public transport over the car these days.

Doesn't seem to have been an issue for Dundee WJ and we all know that public transport doesn't work, can't remember the last time I didn't drive to a ground.

I was thinking more west of the Chapel, close to the 92 and food/shopping outlets. If we could get a compulsory purchase order from the council for some of that farmland and build a new community stadium up there, I think it could work, all of this would need the council on board and the necessary funding of course.
Although a site at the Boreland could work too, if Network rail were persuaded to build a railway halt there and would keep those concerned about their green credentials happy

| There used to be the number 6 bus that went from the Boreland to Masserene Road then at the Gallatown you had the number 1 bus that went to Invertiel So there was at one time a very good bus service at the Boreland and Gallatown that probably could have serviced a football ground. Also, remember the Leven bus number 7 used to go round by the Boreland from the Gallatown . There was also the Glenrothes buses and the Cupar bus also the Dundee bus that went up through the Gallatown this was before the regional road was built. Just remembered there was a partially built stadium at the top of the Gallatown where Randolph pitches are now that was supposed to be a new football ground I think for the Rovers but for whatever reason it was never completed and the council used it as a tipping site. There's plenty of land at Mitchelson Industrial estate that could be used with access to the dual carriageway. |

Your statement hasn't harmed Dunfermline, similar proximity to rail and bus stations.
Let's face it, Rovers just haven't the fan base of our West Fife cousins, spending millions of pounds just to be near a motorway won't change this and I doubt it would improve the mindset of the missing fans.

Hard to disagree WJ............other than "hard core" fans, most, if not all the rest, are the same as other clubs. Glory seekers that only want to be seen to be supporting a successful and winning club. How often are you asked "why do support them (whoever they are), they're rubbish, never win anything"

It's not just about being near a motorway, its about creating a community hub with easy access. If you think of youth groups playing there, a gym facility, meeting rooms for hire. Its more than just the Rovers although it would be ours and the councils stadium, it could be a community hub and these people who would use it, generally would drive to such a location.
I work with apprentices, 17yo and up, not one of them doesn't have a car. They drive to work, to (football) training, to the gym, not one of them would consider getting on a bus (unlike when I was their age)
Apart from the few green party members kicking about, nobody cares about using public transport when they have a car outside.
Anyhoo, its all pipe dreams, unless my ticket comes up Tuesday! Once I build the new stadium, I'll put on a free bus that goes round the town and picks up season ticket holders for free

Disagree on transit, especially for those preferring a nip on the way to and from matches. Starks Park parking is a mild issue for those not using transit, but otherwise the northern location would offer little improvement on the experience. For a community club, SP offers history and appeal, if we can just provide necessary facilities, and there is a plan for that. More parking nearby would be good, but so would a pony for all kids…wish in one hand and s*** in the other…
Maybe Elon Musk will step in, since he’s not buying twitter, and build a tunnel transit system throughout the area! |

| Got my season tickets today had to go to the office and ask the young girl checked and had a look at my conformation e-mail and printed them out. Didn't help me last night trying to get the live broadcast. But all is now forgiven maybe. |
