It will be interesting to see if IM continues that policy , Tx, and, if he does, to which ones he will consider offering a contract.
I wonder from where new MAs will be recruited now that Fife Elite is no longer in existence🤔

Yet another Scottish player ends up at Hartlepool. Got a feeling this is all going to end up in a mess for Paul Hartley.

Would of thought his scouts may of identified boys who have played in that league. Time will tell how it goes.

Going to end up in a mess for us if we don't get some bodies in soon, a week away from our first competitive match and we are at least 4 players short. Does not bode well unless the plan is to gaff off the cup competitions and concentrate on the league from the start.

Not convinced. We have a RB, a LB, four that can play CB (one of whom is first choice LB and emergency RB)…the have sufficient mids and wings/forwards to play nearly indefinitely, even if we all know we need some different options. To be totally honest, if we got in one CB/RB capable journeyman player, we’d be OK for another month or so.

I just think we’re not going to see a rush to sign “just anyone”, I’m convinced that Murray has a line on a couple of loans that would fit well and is working on nursing them over the line now. There seems very little “available” in our needs categories right now.

I would love to hear who you think we have as the 4 centre backs that can play week in week out at this level, and do the job successfully for us.

Apologies for saying this but you are deluded if you think we will be alright for another month or so, whilst I appreciate your efforts in crunching the numbers, you have no idea how long it takes to embed one player into a playing system never mind the 4 I think we still need. You cannot just make numbers work in the real world when it comes to personalities and integrating them into systems, that is why we have pre season.

Where do you get the information that he has lines on a couple of loans, I am sure we would all love to have that kind of insider knowledge this side of the pond, never mind the side you are on

I appreciate we are behind the curve due to McGlynn leaving and Murray coming in, but he has made no stand out signings so far and shows little potential of doing that.

As ever, your optimism is laudable, but normally you work from facts, you have swapped to conjecture purely to answer a post. As with the lack of decent signings, it does not bode well.

Let's see...

I said we had 4 CB, I never suggested they can play every week at this level...

I know bedded players in takes time, but if the players aren't available, you can't just take Jock Blow and try him there...

I don't have information, I said "I'm convinced" based upon other comments and such...

Sorry you are so down on Murray...

I did state facts, you simply read more into them than there was present. I'm not truely happy either, but the cupboard is bare for almost all Scottish teams right now...

Last season we did quite well progressing from the group stages of the League Cup, earning us bumper games against Aberdeen and Celtic.

With the limited numbers in the squad so far, are we to assume that Murray is using the cup games as a warm up for the league, until we sign more players by the end of the month? Granted, we’re likely to have Spencer, Matthews and Vaughan back in 4-6 weeks, but we need new players bedded into the team now.

I would hope not, but it's increasingly looking like he won't have too much choice.

While the league should still be priority, the League Cup could well have a massive bearing on the season and recovering the massive funds lost last season. Could a tie with one of the OF mean the extra two squad-members that we are down on this year? . Add to that, better form means bigger attendances and that means more funds. We won't get any real pay-days in the Championship this season and even less so in Challlenge Cup.

A little concerned now by the way things are shaping up. Five days or so until our competitive campaign gets underway and our squad is in a worse state than it finished the previous season. I have no idea what state our league rivals are in. I hope they are also struggling, especially the ones we imagine might be towards the bottom half of the table.

From what I can tell, recruitment has been universally difficult across the league. Haven't seen any transfer activity that makes me sit up and notice.

Nothing I've heard from the manager gives me any cause from concern. He's made it clear that he wants to sign the right players rather than guys for the sake of it. Im happy with that we can't afford another Mendy situation. And apparently Steven McDonald was on Raith TV saying we have a Centre Half incoming as well as a Forward, with loans etc still to come.

A lack of signings does not equal a lack of activity, necessarily. It could also be that under Mcglynn, rumours would leak like a sieve and those in the know are no longer so.

Trust the manager.

Starting to think Gullan is our starting CF in Murray’s eyes, and we won’t be seeing a striker in until a nice loanee comes up…IDK, but at least he’s in the goalmouth and popping them in now!

6 goals in 4 matches is probably enough to convince any manager that you're worth a shot to begin with. If he keeps that up we'll be fine
