Thanks again Tex.

When you look at the amount of players we have who are signed up to and beyond May 2023, there's not a lot of room left to add players to strengthen the squad for next season?

It is about being shrewd with those we do sign, strengthening in key positions, not squad players.
One positive I read in John Sim's recent interview with the Courier is that finances are available
for a full-time squad continuing and no threat of going back to a hybrid model (although that doesn't,
of itself, guarantee quality).
John Sim also hinted that it was up to JMcG if he chose to remain as manager or not ,so that is the biggest
question mark re contract extensions (I'm assuming that Smudger will stay if his pal does ).

I agree. Though how full time can remain viable based on the poor crowd levels we've been getting this season is beyond me right now. Arbroath have proven that full time is not the main requirement for success, recruitment is.

And you would expect something to be announced fairly soon.

Ideally pre Killie game so supporters who wish to give him a good send off can if he no longer wants to continue

The lack of action/announcements suggests, to me, he’s leaving.

Championship place money significantly aids staying full time.

We have too many forwards/wings signed to get more than one or two more. We badly need versatile defenders and mids.

I wonder if he is hanging on to see if his wee Messiah will make a come back.
Agree with Tx, squad is too front heavy, and not with quality, more depth needed, certainly at CB and RB, on the face of it, Rosco, Stan and Spencer is a solid midfield, we need someone of their stature (or close to it) as back up

Food for thought, does Arnott replace Spencer next year? Spencer has had some injury concerns and been out a lot this year. Yes, we missed him (and Tait), but Arnott/Matthews in front of a slightly deeper lying Stanton is an interesting middle three…IF Arnott can play up to his flashes so far…especially if Vaughan can return in the front of a diamond.

I’m wondering if it isn’t that Spencer hasn’t been re-signed BECAUSE JMcG is not signed for next year, and the BoD isn’t willing to re-sign an injury risk without the manager shilling for him. It isn’t the smart move, but this BoD isn’t a group of geniuses.

Spencer broke his leg in a tackle. How does that make him an injury risk above all others?

In League, Spencer missed 13 matches injured in two spells this year, plus not playing in 4 more. Both injuries were foot related, which is concerning. I thought I remembered he had some toe concerns last year, but still played. It’s just a bit concerning, given we seem to draw glass players like moths to a flame.

Need to get your facts right Tx.
Got his leg broken at Gayfield in early December.

The thing is Tx not for the first time, you speak with such authority about matters to which you are simply wrong.

Spencer is most definitely not in the league of Vaughan or Lang in terms of "glass players" as you wish to call them.

A broken leg as a result of a contact injury can happen to any player.

I issued an opinion that Spencer is a player that might be a bit more injury prone going forward, not an attempt to declare him as such, period. If I was unclear on that, I will apologize…however, the fact a contact injury causes missed t8me doesn’t mean the player isn’t potentially prone to miss time for injuries. A player’s style may impact his injury likelihood as much as his physical condition, etc.

OK, Dom Thomas to replace Spencer? Word is he’s tired at the Pars and leaving…probably too rich, but…
