Neither the Player of the Year nor the Goal of the Season options present a clear-cut runaway winner this time round - not as far as I can see, at any rate.
On the upside, that's an embarrassment of riches for the choice of best goal. OK, so the teamwork shown for the clinching goal in the cup final wasn't quite at the level of last season's Dunfermline game, but very decent. Three great solo efforts from RossM, DarioZ, and AidanC; an excellent team goal finished by EthanR again at ICT; finally AidanC's free kick. Tough, tough choice, and all worthy in their own way.
PotY is tough to choose too, for different reasons. On the negative side, it's difficult to avoid choosing a player who hasn't had a poor spell, or at least a blip, during the current campaign. Equally, it's difficult to choose a player who has played in enough games to be worthy of the choice [on that point, I wouldn't like to see a winner who played, say, less than 30 out of the likely total of 50 matches]. That said, mind you, the choice would then be limited to about 10 players only!
I've kinda made up my mind, but will be interested to read any positive-minded arguments in favour of any particular goal or player..... |

Jamie Macdonald for me. How many times has he saved us this season? |

Surely Jamie Macdonald can be the only contender? |

Jamie MacDonald is a no brainer.
Voted for Ross’ goal up in Inverness but could have went for any of them to be honest |

I think MacDonald edges out Ross Matthews for Player of the Year, but the fact that neither, in my opinion, quite reached the heights of last season, is a pretty sad indictment on the rest.
Would have possibly gone for Berra had he not been injured so much, and Aiden Connolly is the only other one worthy of being in the conversation.
Won't grumble about any of the goals winning goal of the season, but thought Vaughan's second against Hamilton was worthy of inclusion on the shortlist. _________________ Dougie Hill

MacDonald for me, has won us a lot of points with some massive saves and has been consistent across the season. I can't say that about a lot of other players.
Goal of the year I've gone for Dario's. A top quality hit to open our season with, just edging out Ross away at ICT |

Got to be McDonald. No outfield player has had the same consistency all season. Yea McDonald has slipped up a few times, but on the other hand, he is probably the reason a shambles of a season has not ended even worse.
Goal would be Ross up at Inversnecky |

All those on the Short-list for GotS have their merits (and can think of two or three others which seem to have been left on the cutting -room floor ).
In the end went for Dario's , because it reminds me of better times (and he did score a few like it before teams doubled up on him and forced him off his right foot ).
I was close to voting Ross Matthews as PotS but Jamma just shaded it in terms of influencing the outcome of matches. |

Sums the league campaign up well when going two nil up on opening day before surrendering a four goal lead is ‘better times’.
To be fair though, we WERE the best team in the league by a mile for 1st 60mins of season! |

A really good night at the PoTY awards. Great turn out and worthy winners all round. Well done to all that were involved in putting this on. |

The awards were curtailed to six awards, this year, hopefully some other awards will be reinstated in years to come. _________________ Hope he's got plenty Rovers action to comment on tonight.... |

Sincere thanks to organisers, club staff, players and management for a fantastic night. I know I'm getting old when our (brilliant) players look young enough to be my grandchildren! |
