Writing this whilst the hurt from last nights "performance" is still raw but I would like to guage the feeling amongst the support as to whether or not you think its time for John McGlynn to go. Since the Killie win on 11th December we have won 1 league game in 15, indeed, in the whole league season we have won 10 games from 32. Its a good job we posted the points early season because form like that is relegation fodder. I fear that if we continue in the same vein next season then we might again be involved in the playoffs, but at the wrong end of the table, or worse. Our league position has gone some way to masking what has been a dreadful run of results but a simple analysis with a clear head and non-partisan eyes tells the true story.

McGlynn has done well for us with two challenge cups (I count last years shared one) but real success in the league has evaded us. I thank him for the trophys but I do believe that he has taken us as far as he can and the time is right for fresh ideas.

I don't subscribe to the 'McGlynn must go' line at all. Last season exceeded all expectations-3rd bottom would have done us at the start. This season has certainly been a disappointment, but numerous unforeseen factors have contributed to this. IMO, John and Paul are the best management team in the lower leagues by a distance. John's love for Raith Rovers is almost tangible and he is highly respected by fellow coaches and players. Bigger teams are happy to send players on loan due to the quality of coaching and new players state regularly that they have joined the club because of 'the gaffer'.
This brings me to the next point. Who do the detractors want? Let's be real and forget Jack Ross. Do we want an inexperienced veteran player who is perceived as showing promise? This has only worked once in our history. Fans bayed for Grant Murray's head and look where that took us. I am firmly of the opinion that we should be thankful for what we've got. Do we want another oaf like Yogi telling the 'boys to be warriors and make SP a fortress', or do we want a meticulous thinker who also happens to be a thoroughly decent man?

That kinda summarises my thoughts as well, he was given the financial backing to bring in Ross, Stanton, Gullan, and of course the fiasco that was you know who
We're plagued by injuries in training and games for whatever reason, as well as having no leadership on or off the pitch

The big questions are who do we replace them with and is there sufficient funds going to be available to sign / re-sign players, I think we're caught between a rock and a hard place with the season end 3 weeks away, but yes its time for them to move on

I'm in the current managements camp. Don't see anyone better out there.

Their remit I suspect was to challenge for playoffs and we are doing that although likely to miss out this year. They have delivered a trophy which puts them in a small band of management teams of our club who have done so.

Prior to xmas everything was going well and we were a good watch. Granted since then we have nose dived, league wise. We have had to content with far more injuries than any other club and the signing of DG added to our troubles and knocked the stuffing out of us.

The injuries I do accept as a mitigating factor, but then we don't help ourselves by loaning out perfectly good players who are already on the books and could provide cover for injury and suspension.

Unfortunately thats the only way these guys are getting any game time, if we cant afford to run a reserve team, we maybe need to stop signing injury susceptible players, easier said than done though

Someone on the other channel has posted the league table since our win against Killie back in December 2021(no techie enough to get it from there to here)

Anyway, you,ll not be surprised to see we are bottom, least points, least wins, least goals scored, most goals conceded

One win in fifteen or 10 points from a possible 45 pretty sure would see the end for many a management team

Dont subscribe to “dont see anyone better out there,or who else is there” as reasons to stick with what you,ve got

If I recall correctly, his (and Smudger) time is up in the summer, I like John and Paul, really smashing people to chat to but I am beginning to think it is time for change, not just the management team but also some of the players.
I think his recruitment has been poor this season, too many similar players and it would seem the early enthusiasm and form has been coached out of them. We all know, for example, Zanatta is a confidence player, his form dipped and he was dropped, nothing seems to have been done to rebuild his confidence in terms of playing.
It's like McGlynn has been waiting for the return of the messiah (LV) but that is a massive gamble which nobody knows if it would pay off. Mussonda is streets ahead of Bene yet Bene is a shoe in, Matej needs to play with someone alongside him, yet often played as a lone striker. I could keep going.
Our tactics were found out and there has been no real attempt to nail down one particular formation/style as an alternative.
I think it is time for fresh blood at the top, there will be managers available in the summer, time to find the right fit.

Can we really afford to wait till the summer, when a few players we may like to keep are out of contract and players that we may have an eye on now are no longer available,
The best bet we have now, much as I hate the idea is give management another year with the proviso that if things dont improve, they walk

As I said before he is a man who got us promoted and played some the best football seen in years last season. Yes he is going through a bad spell but surely done enough to earn the chance to revive what he did over the least couple of seasons

Hi all, I fully understand fans feelings about the form that the team has produced since early December. We have to realise that at the moment we are not an attractive football club to manage. Not only do we have an average team but we have very little money to attract a decent manager. On that basis IMO we must stick with John and Smudger for at least next season to maintain our status as a championship club. It will be a lot harder to try and persuade reasonable players to come to Kirkcaldy next season because of the financial difficulties and the feeling about the club as a whole. It is not just the management side, it is about the Ownership and current directors that are affecting the morale of the players and the downsize of crowds. Get rid of the board, support the manager, and lets see where we are in a years time.

I think it's obvious we need a fresh approach next season. The results and performances for the past 4 months have been shocking. It would appear as soon as we lost the game in the 97th minute at Firhill on Dec 18th, it has been like falling off a cliff. The management have failed to halt the slump and find solutions. It's fair to say we have had injury problems but, it can't be the whole reason why it's got this bad. Also, some signings have been poor, Keatings, Vaughan, Goodwillie and Gullan all on long-term deals have been a waste of resources. Even loan signings have been poor, Williamson and Kennedy spring to mind.

If we had started the season with 1 win in 15 matches i'm quite sure the cry would be " if this continues we'll go down, he's out of contract in the summer, so it's time to act".

I have totally lost confidence in McGlynn and Smith and can't wait for this season to end. However, i still believe we have some good players, McDonald, Berra, Matthews, Stanton, Arnott and Ross for example. I just think we need a fresh approach. Ian Murray seems to be doing a good job at Airdrie, maybe he could turn things around?

The core of a decent team is signed for next year, but the defence is weak. It’s time to recognize that JMcG has probably topped out, and needs (unfortunately) replacing. I would consider Smudger, but his partner complicates things, so I think it’s time to make a new hire. Unfortunately, I have limited confidence in the BoD to make a good decision, but the time has come to move forward and they are the only game in town. We could do much worse than Ian Murray, but I doubt we can get him.

we need a wee reality check here.

The manager got us out of the 3rd tier, secured playoffs, won trophies and has us safe from relegation.

i too am frustrated by the poor form since December and the DG episode, but how do you measure success as a Rovers supporter?

I do not feel the club can afford to take a punt at a younger, untested manager and i certainly don't want another Locke or Yogi episode. Be careful what you wish for.

if anyone deserves another season then surely it is John?

I would be interested to see those seeking a change proposing their preferred candidates.
