Stand by what I said just over a week ago, any less than 4pts from those last two home games and McGlynn needs to go, I would be saying the same had we drawn today, to lose 4 nil, in that manner to Ayr Utd who before today were averaging less than a goal a game?!
I hope he resigns but that probably would have happened by now? If he doesn’t then the clubs board need to grow a pair and relieve him of his duties. It’s only a couple of months til he is away anyway.
Short term replacement til end of season, have a wee go at making play-offs, if we don’t then we haven’t lost anything.
Today was a complete shambles and that’s being polite, do yourself and all the fans a favour and resign John. |

Note what I said, it’s an offering to the fans they think may defuse some anger. I predicted that kind of move a couple of weeks ago, and I still expect it.
It won’t solve anything, and as noted, Smudger and the Misses might be more responsible, but this course is something they can point to as trying to hold people (the wrong ones, maybe) responsible…(and hopefully help the BoD retain their jobs?) |

I am now in the 'his time is over' camp but there are a couple of issues that cannot be overlooked.
As GP pointed out, because of the Goodwillie situation, there is no way we can afford to pay off McGlynn & Smith too.
Secondly, who is of a standard, free and available for buttons, to take the club to the next level. Anyone for Berra to take over?
Finally, what if (and I appreciate it is a big if) McGlynn turns it round, the team goes on a run, scooshes the playoffs and gets promoted? Do we reward him with a new contract or still look for someone else?
On top of everything over the last few months this has got to be a real low point for McGlynn, the players and the club. I had hoped that the vitriol the club had faced would spur the players on but things, bar the Killie result, have gone from bad to worse.
I am beginning to think that John Sim needs a cabinet reshuffle to include the Board, management and playing squad. The team is desperately unbalanced with a surfeit of 'forwards' who are no longer producing, a defence who, with the exception of Musonda & Mackay, show no signs of promise and a midfield who, on the loss of one player, seem unable to function.
We are not even hard to beat anymore, in fact we have never been that hard to beat, a long ball over the top has highlighted Bene and Berras lack of pace too often.
He needs to get back to basics, almost back to doing preseason again, basic fitness, passing, movement, simple formation (4-4-2) that everyone understands, nothing fancy just simple pass and move football.
But, as I have said previously, things could be worse, we could be the Pars _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

First bit in bold was maybe meant to happen a year or two at most down the line with McG as a director of football but you feel circumstances have changed too much for that to be a flyer.
Speaking of flyers the second bit in bold must be the source of bacon for the rolls flying high o'er Farfar!
Last sentence puts things in a bit of perspective rz

Absolutely nothing wrong with standards being raised. One win in 3 months, in an average at best league, and blowing the best chance to win this league in a generation deserves harsh scrutiny, at a minimum.
Most managers would have seen a club statement appear last night after a result and form like that. |

McGlynn best summed up our major problem this season at the end of his interview when he mentioned they had big strikers who caused us bother and ours didn’t cause them any bother.
His failing at the start of the season to sign target men strikers has cost us all season and he has failed to address this shortfall as the season has gone on.
Can’t understand the difference in recruitment policy from last season which was our most successful for some time but that what’s cost us. _________________ Davie McGurn gone but never forgotten! |

I agree with most of that. Though I would say this is our best chance to date, I don't see next season being any different in terms of overall competition. This league is always the same, 10 teams with little between them. Those who come down are no better or worse than those who were here before. Hearts were the outlier when they were relegated in the Covid year but Dundee, Hamilton, Killie are nothing special. I don't see whoever comes down at the end of this season being much better either.
The club need to get their identity back on the pitch, be back to the quick passing football, lately we've changed it up, tried different formations and different approaches, nothing has worked. First half of the season we got in and around teams, stretched them by playing quick football and got goals from many areas. Need to find ways to get that back. We can deride the choice of striker we have, but for the next 8 games, we've got what we have and have to make the most of it |

Could play Bene up front with Varian off him, lets face it he has been dire at the back how much worse could he be up front _________________ http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/ |

Ach,RZ, why go with that untested pairing when we have an established combo of Bene and Aaron Arnott which put Killie to the sword?😉 |

Speaking of Arnott, he should at least be getting 45 mins every game till end of the season, and big Frankie might've been a better shout up front lol |

Strange Game yesterday.
In all my years as a Rovers supporter I cannot recall a game when the whole team seemed to collapse? Sure there have been Games where we have seen bad performances, there have been many of these, but for the whole team to underperform is indeed rare.
Can some of this be attributed to the DG fallout I wonder?
It strikes me the team are probably like the fans. Some welcomed the DG signing, others not. It may be the dressing room, like this forum, is not a happy place right now and we know that an unhappy dressing room leads to very poor performances where players do not play for each other. This, coupled with the added pressure of not having won in 11 Games, has to make a difference to the smooth flow of a Game.
Of Course I may be way off the mark with this hypothesis. It may be that had Williamson scored with his two gifted chances in the first half yesterday, the game could well have panned out differently. I guess we will never know.
One thing for certain. John and Paul will have to be able to pull the team out of the doldrums before the next Game. Sadly, their first task will be to pull themselves out of the doldrums, and this may be the biggest task they face. Listening to John's post match interview he sounded like he was hurting every bit as much as us fans. |

True, Turunc, true!
I met a life-long Pars supporter earlier today and asked him not to mention the football. He ignored that request by saying that I had nothing to grumble about as we are ''safe'' ,unlike his team. I further depressed him by pointing out that it was The Rovers who were playing at Palmerston this coming Saturday. His horrified face was a picture. |

Glad that's cheered you up a little, AR, we are all badly in need of so light-hearted moments at present.
Regarding your previous post re Aaron Arnott, I agree and think we have another very promising player in him. Tricky to put too much pressure on hime when the team is in a slump. |
